ATV Motocross Returns to High Point Raceway This Weekend
Hetrick Aims to Keep Win-Streak Alive in Pennsylvania
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (April 27, 2022) – The ATV Motocross National Championship (ATVMX) Series, an AMA National Championship, heads to Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania to take on High Point Raceway for the fourth round of AMA Pro ATV Racing. This event will also be the fourth round of racing for WMX Pro and Pro Sport classes, while amateur and Pro-Am racers will race for the third time this season.
This weekend will be a bit of a homecoming for Phoenix Racing/CST Tires/Elka/Moose Racing’s Joel Hetrick as he hails from Pennsylvania. Hetrick has also earned the first three overall wins of the season, and he is aiming to keep his momentum rolling into this weekend’s race. However, Hetrick knows that this weekend’s win will not come easy as the rest of the AMA Pro athletes are looking to put a stop to his winning ways.
Wienen Motorsports/Maxxis/SSi Decals/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Chad Wienen has made his way into second in the points standings after he finished on the podium at the previous two races. Wienen is hoping to dethrone Hetrick this weekend at round four, but he knows that he could have his work cut out for him as Hetrick will have a bit of a home field advantage.
Also looking to battle at the front of the pack this weekend will be Rastrelli Racing/FXR Moto/Rocket Machine Design’s Jeffrey Rastrelli. After rounding out the top three overall at the previous race, and at round one in Daytona, Rastrelli is looking to battle for an overall win as the series heads North to High Point Raceway on Saturday.
Ford Brothers Racing/Fly/SSi/Maxxis/DWT/Maxima/Fourwerx/Walsh’s Bryce Ford remains third in the points standings after three rounds of racing. Ford is looking to return to the overall podium on Saturday afternoon, but he knows that he is going to have to endure a battle to get there. Ford is eager to return to the overall podium after just missing it at the muddy Georgian National.
Rounding out the top five at the last race, and in the points standings currently is Musick Racing/Deja Vu/Kenda Tire’s Brandon Hoag. Last year at High Point Hoag had a great performance, finishing third overall and this year he is hoping to repeat that success this coming weekend.
Other hopefuls looking for success this weekend is GennUSA Racing/Integrated Financial Concepts/CST Tires/Walsh Race Craft’s Nick Gennusa and ML2 Motorsports/Walsh Race Craft/Maxxis/Yamaha’s Max Lindquist. Gennusa and Lindquist have both finished on the overall podium already this season, and they are hoping to battle back to that spot this weekend at round four.
Holding the points lead in the WMX class is currently Kinsey Osborn who has finished on the podium at all three rounds thus far in the season and even took home the win in Texas. Defending Champion, Andrea Berger holds onto second after finishing off the podium in Georgia. Berger is looking to get back to her winning ways this weekend, and she will be one to keep an eye on as the WMX racers take off. Niamh Shaw and Ellie Roush are coming off good weekends in Georgia, as Roush took the win and Shaw earned second overall. This weekend Roush is aiming to keep her winning ways going, while Shaw is hopeful that she can battle for what could be her first win of the season.
In the Pro Sport class Brett Musick is looking to keep his win-streak alive after earning wins at the first three rounds. Musick is aiming to hold off some fast racers as the series heads North to Pennsylvania. Blair Miller is aiming to put a stop to Musick’s winning ways as he’s finished second and third at the first couple of rounds. Agostino Abbatiello is also looking to battle at the front as he holds third in the Pro Sport points. Abbatiello is aiming to put his machine on the overall podium this weekend.
Then on Sunday the Pro Am racers will take to the racetrack for both of their motos featuring Joseph Chambers and Dane Molander who are separated by one point in the standings after two rounds of racing. Chambers earned second at the last round, while Molander earned his first win, but both will be battling it out on Sunday to take that number one spot. After earning the win in Texas, Blair Miller had a rough round two with a 10th place finish. However, Miller is aiming to turn that bad luck around this weekend and battle for his second win of the season. Aaron Salinas rounded out the top three overall in Pro Am in Georgia, and he will be looking to keep that success going.
Amateur racing will kick off on Saturday with Production A first up on the race order as Payden Lingle looks to earn their third straight win of the season. Jeffrey Robbins is also looking to keep his winning ways going in the Veteran 30+ A/B class, while Zachari Wyatt holds onto the Veteran 30+ C class lead. Davin Slonaker is ready to take on the 50cc Open and CVT classes this weekend as he holds the points lead for both. This along with so many more amateur racers are looking to battle it out this coming weekend in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania.
