Wienen Wins Season Opener at Daytona SX
Main Event win for Wienen at Daytona International Speedway
The 2020 Season has kicked off yet again at Daytona Bike Week at the Daytona International Speedway and Wienen grabbed the top spot in the box at the 2020 Season opener.
Wienen qualified third fastest in the morning practice sessions and landed himself in the first heat race of the day. Turning out the first turn in third, Wienen made his way into the second place position within the first few laps. Charging forward to reel in the leader, Wienen ran out of time during the heat race and came across the checkered flag in second.
As the gate dropped for the main event, Wienen once again found himself in the front of the field coming across the holeshot line in second. The front runners of the race put on quite an intense battle with less than seconds separating the three riders out front. Wienen sitting in the middle of the battle he was able to capitalize on a mistake from Brown out front halfway through the race and took over the lead. Wienen charged hard to put some time between himself and the other two riders out front and earned the first checkered flag of the 2020 season, clinching his forth Daytona SX Championship win.
"I'm always pumped to come out of the first race of the year with a win but even more happy to come out of this one off event healthy with a good performance. I'm super pumped on all the changes we have made to the Wienen Motorpsorts machine throughout the off season and I can't wait to get inot the swing of the race season and show what we've been working hard on all off season." said Wienen
The season will continue March 28 and 29 at Underground MX in Kemp, Texas.
