Wienen Wins Overall at Ironman
2-1 Finish earns Overall and second in championship

The 2019 AMA ATV MX Pro National Championship concluded this past weekend along side the AMA PRO MX series at Ironman raceway in Crawfordsville Indiana. Wienen motorsports chad Wienen closed out the weekend with a 2-1 finish winning the overall for the weekend but came up short in the championship chase finishing second overall in points for the 2019 season.

With heavy rainfall the night prior to the race, track conditions were not ideal for morning practices but by the second time out on the track conditions were beginning to shape up however conditions had a majority of the ATV field running the larger tires for the day.

With the first gate drop of the day, it seemed Wienen was coming out to a good start but at the second corner was pushed wide and found himself just outside the top five. Determined to push forward Wienen focused on passes and moved into the second place position before the end of the first lap. Splitting hairs in time with the rider in first, Wienen was unable to make up any substantial time to put pressure on the rider out front and went on to take second in moto 1.

Moto 2 gate dropped and Wienen came out with a similar jump off the gate as moto 1 but was able to hold onto a front of the field position going into the second turn. Within three sections of the track Wienen had moved into the front of the field. Opting again for the large tires this moto, Wienen had pressure from behind from fellow Yamaha rider Thomas Brown on small tires throughout the moto but was able to hold his position and take the win. Even with his second moto win, Wienen came up three points short in the overall championship chase.

"It was a great way to end our season on a win. I am very happy with my team's efforts to go after the 2019 Championship, we came up short but it has me eager to dive into 2020 and work to regain our title. Thank you to my supporters that helped us in 2019. I am looking forward to battling again in 2020. I am looking forward to some downtime with my family and starting to prepare and train for the Quadcross of Nations in Germany come October 5 with Team USA!"
