Hetrick, Wienen and More Look to Earn RedBud ATVMX National Win
Three Rounds Remain in 2019 AMA Pro ATV Schedule
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (July 16, 2019) – The 2019 ATV Motocross National Championship (ATVMX) Series, an AMA National Championship, heads to the legendary RedBud MX in Buchanan, Michigan this weekend, July 20 and 21st for the eighth round of AMA Pro Racing and seventh round of amateur ATVMX racing.
After going 1-1 at the previous round in New York, Phoenix Racing Honda/Maxxis/Elka Suspension’s Joel Hetrick is looking forward to the weekend in Michigan. Hetrick currently sits 22 points behind the points leader, but he will be looking to close the gap this weekend and keep his momentum going with another overall win.
Wienen Motorsports/Yamaha/Maxxis’ Chad Wienen, who currently holds the points lead, is looking ahead to earn his third overall win of the season this Saturday. Wienen has had a consistent year thus far in the season, never finishing off the overall podium, and he is aiming to keep that success going as the series heads into the final three AMA Pro Racing rounds.
Coming away with his first-career overall AMA Pro ATV podium at the previous round was Corrosion Specialties/Londerville Steel/Maxxis Tires’ Brandon Hoag. This season Hoag currently sits seventh in the points standings after seven rounds of racing. On Saturday, Hoag will aim to battle throughout the day like he did in New York and land on the overall podium for the second-straight time.
Looking to return to the overall podium this weekend is Jeff Rastrelli Land Grading/Baldwin’s Jeffrey Rastrelli. Currently Rastrelli sits fourth in the points standings, but will be planning to improve his standings this weekend. After finishing just off the podium at the past two rounds, Rastrelli is looking to battle up front and return to the top three.
GennUSA Racing/CST Tires/Corrosion Specialties’ Nick Gennusa has been closing in on an overall podium finish. This weekend Gennusa will aim to put together two solid moto finishes and land on the podium, while also improving his fifth place position in the points standings.
Earning sixth overall in New York was Ryland Johnson Racing/GBC Motorsports/Ye Olde Cycle Barn’s Westley Wolfe. Wolfe sits sixth in the points standings, but is looking to work his way through the pack and battle up front. Wolfe is hopeful to earn his first overall podium finish this weekend in RedBud.
JH Racing/Lobo Transport/Root River Racing’s Samuel Rowe came through seventh overall at the previous round, and this weekend he will look to improve his standings by having another consistent finish. Rowe sits 10th in the points standings, and with only three rounds remaining is looking to move up.
After two disappointing rounds, Tbrown84 Training/CST Tires’ Thomas Brown is eager to put together two moto finishes and battle for another overall win. Last year at RedBud Brown took the win, and he’s familiar with the center spot in the podium as he’s already found it once this season.
Phoenix Racing Honda’s Haedyn Mickelson and Ford Brothers Racing/Fly/Maxxis/ Impact Solutions’ Cody Ford rounded out the top 10 overall at Unadilla. As Saturday grows nearer, Mickelson is looking to finish in a good enough position to push him into the top 10 overall points standings. Ford will work to get back into that top three spot by putting together two solid moto finishes.
