Hetrick Aims to Earn Fourth Overall Win at Sunset Ridge
Wienen looking to take his home state overall win
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (June 11, 2019) – The 2019 ATV Motocross National Championship (ATVMX), an AMA National Championship, heads to Illinois for round six of AMA Pro Racing and five for amateur racers. The Sunset Ridge ATVMX National is well-known for its Breast Cancer Awareness “PINK” weekend. This year Corrosion Specialties and TDR Motorsports have teamed to provide a BONUS in the AMA Pro class purse: first - $2,500, second - $1,500, and third - $1,000.
Coming off his second-straight win, third of the season, Phoenix Racing Honda/Maxxis Tires/Elka Suspension’s Joel Hetrick is aiming to keep his momentum rolling into this weekend’s ATVMX National in Illinois. Hetrick currently sits second in the points standings and is looking to earn some valuable points in the quest for his second AMA Pro ATVMX National Title.
After finishing in the runner-up position at the past two events, Wienen Motorsports/Yamaha/Maxxis’ Chad Wienen is looking to earn the overall win in his home state on Saturday. Wienen remains first in the points standings with a 17-point lead over Hetrick. Wienen is eager to get to his home state race, and battle for his second overall win of the season in front of his family and friends.
Tbrown84 Training/CST Tires’ Thomas Brown is another rider looking to earn his second overall win of the season on Saturday. Brown earned his first overall win of the season at his home state race in Texas, but this weekend will look to take away the number one spot at Sunset Ridge MX.
At the previous round GennUSA Racing/CST Tires/Corrosion Specialties’ Nicholas Gennusa earned fourth overall, but this weekend he will be looking to earn his first overall podium finish. Gennusa has been a consistent rider for the past couple years, and is aiming to break through the pack this weekend and battle at the front.
Ryland Johnson Racing/GBC Motorsports/Ye Olde Cycle Barn’s Westley Wolfe is looking ahead to Saturday and aiming to have another good run in the AMA Pro class. Wolfe currently sits seventh in the points standings, but is just one point out from taking over the sixth place position. Wolfe will have a look of determination on Saturday as he is eager to improve his Championship standings.
With an 8-6 moto score at the previous round, Nine6Nine/Barker’s Exhaust/Walsh Race Craft’s Alan Myers is looking to put together two great moto finishes for a better overall finish in Illinois. Corrosion Specialties/Londerville Steel/Maxxis Tires’ Brandon Hoag came through sixth at the previous round, but is aiming to break into that top five once again.
Jeff Rastrelli Land Grading/Baldwin’s Jeffrey Rastrelli earned a fourth in the first moto and a 12th in the second moto for eighth overall in Tennessee. Rastrelli is hoping to have a redemption race this Saturday and put together two top moto finishes for what could be his first win of the season.
Koster Racing/Quadified Racing Engines/Walsh Race Craft’s Wes Lewis and JH Racing/Lobo Transport/Root River Racing’s Samuel Rowe rounded out the top 10 overall from Muddy Creek. This weekend Lewis and Rowe are hoping to remain inside the top 10 and work their way through the pack to improve their standings.
This event serves as the Illinois AMA State Championship. The Sunset Ridge ATVMX National will also dawn PINK for their Breast Cancer Awareness event. This year’s fundraising activities will be helping a local organization, Pink Ribbon Club of the Illinois Valley.
