Rockford Fosgate/TiLube/Honda amateur racers Noah and Haedyn Mickelson finished out the 2018 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship during the Loretta Lynn Dirt Days in Hurricane Mills, TN. The brothers had one of their best seasons yet and are already looking toward 2019. 

Haedyn Mickelson, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in the Pro Class, finished second in Pro Am points with a third-place finish. Though bad luck slowed him in two races, he had a successful 2018 Pro Am season. He won a single race and finished on the podium four more times. 

“I finished third overall, but it just wasn’t enough for the championship,” said Mickelson. “It stinks to lose the championship, but I gave it everything I had. I definitely improved from last year and previous seasons. I did everything I could, but I fell just a little bit short. That’s just fuel for the fire next year.” 

Haedyn Mickelson’s racing season is far from over. He still has four races left in the 2018 GNCC season. Then he plans a rigorous off-season filled with training and riding.

“During the offseason, I’m going to finish out the GNCC series,” said Mickelson. “Then I’ll do some indoor races and train a lot. I won’t take a lot of time off. I’m going to keep grinding and working toward my goals.”

Noah Mickelson endured a lot this season, including an injury that sidelined him for four races. Though he had some bad mechanical luck here, he put in strong runs in Open Pro Sport and Pro Am. 

“With his injury, he never really had a chance to show what he could do,” said Haedyn Mickelson “Then he had bad luck at the last few rounds. I feel bad for him, but he has the whole offseason to heal up and get back to 100%.” 

Despite his injury, Noah Mickelson scored a pair of podiums in Pro Sport, including a win at RedBud. He’s already preparing for 2019, when he will likely run Pro Am and make his Pro debut. 

“We had wiring issues with the bike,” said Mickelson. “They got it figured out in the second moto, but due to lack of time on the track I held back a little bit. Sunday was better for me. I crashed in the holeshot on the first moto, but in the second moto, I led for a few laps and finished fourth. I’m already looking forward to a lot of hard work in the offseason.”

Haedyn Mickelson will compete in his next GNCC race September 15-16 in Harpursville, NY. Both the Mickelsons will return to the ATV Motocross Series next season.
