Joel Hetrick Looks to Make it Two-In-A-Row at Legendary High Point Raceway
ATV Motocross Heads to Mount Morris, Pennsylvania For Round Five

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 17, 2018) – The 2018 ATV Motocross National Championship (ATVMX), an AMA National Championship, makes its return to High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania this weekend, May 19 and 20 for round five. Racers will be treated to an all-new start line and racecourse layout this year, leaving the holeshot anyone’s to claim.

The reigning champion and Rockford Fosgate/Ti-Lube/Honda’s Joel Hetrick sits three points behind Wienen Motorsports/Yamaha/Maxxis’ Chad Wienen in the points championship. Hetrick is fresh off his second overall win of the season and will use that momentum this weekend; he will also look to use his home turf advantage, growing up just a couple hours away in Seneca, Pennsylvania. Hetrick earned the win here in 2016, the last time the ATVMX Championship visited High Point Raceway, and he will look to repeat his success this Saturday.

However, the win will not come easy to Hetrick as he will have other riders like Wienen, Tbrown84 Training/CST Tires’ Thomas Brown and Baldwin/Jeff Rastrelli Land Grading/Ford Brothers Racing Honda’s Jeffrey Rastrelli eager to stand on the top spot of the box at the conclusion of the second moto. Wienen has not finished off the podium since the season began and has two wins in addition to two second overall finishes. This Saturday, Wienen is fully prepared to battle Hetrick along with the rest of the field for the overall win.

Although there have only been two names to reign victorious this season, Brown and Rastrelli have the potential to change that at High Point this weekend. Rastrelli, who is currently third in the points championship, finished third overall at the first three rounds of the season, followed by an intense battle at the previous round for fourth overall. Rastrelli has spent the first four rounds proving that he has the ability to take the win and will look to put everything together on Saturday.

Another rider looking to put together a solid performance this Saturday is Thomas Brown. Brown rounded out the overall podium at the previous round and is looking to keep his momentum rolling after finishing fourth at the first two rounds, and a sixth in Texas.

GennUSA Racing’s Nick Gennusa has had an up-and-down season thus far. After a fifth overall at the opening round, Gennusa faced a mechanical issue at round two followed by a shoulder injury before heading into the third round. This Saturday, Gennusa is aiming to battle at the front of the pack once again.

Having one of the best starts to his season is Ford Brothers Racing/Baldwin Motorsports Ronnie Higgerson. Higgerson has put in consistent finishes, but suffered a crash at Ironman that left him with a sore and bruised back. If Higgerson can overcome the pain he may just earn another overall podium this weekend like he did two years ago. JH Racing/Walsh Race Craft/SSi Decals’ Zachary Kaczmarzyk is currently seventh in the points championship, but has been showing improvement each round. If Kaczmarzyk can get the start he needs then he may just be able to pull out a top five overall finish on Saturday.

GBC Motorsports/Hetrick Racing/Walsh Race Craft’s Westley Wolfe sits eighth after steadily improving throughout the season. Wolfe is striving to battle at the front of the pack, and earn a top five overall with this weekend’s ATVMX National being the closest to his home state of Maryland. Hinson/Walsh Race Craft/Honda’s Parker Wewerka has been putting in double duty on the weekends, racing AMA Pro on Saturday and Pro Am on Sundays. Wewerka took home the Pro Am overall win at the previous round, but only after an intense battle during each moto. Wewerka will look to repeat his success on Sunday, but hopes to improve his standings in the AMA Pro race.

Also hailing from Pennsylvania are Koster Racing’s Wes Lewis and Root River Racing’s Dylan Tremellen. Lewis currently rounds out the top ten in the points championship, followed by Tremellen who is only one point behind him. They are hoping to earn valuable points at their home state race in front of family and friends.

Saturday’s Pro race schedule is as follows: timed qualifying sessions at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Pro motos are at 2 and 4 p.m. with an autograph session taking place at 4:30 p.m.

Amateur racing will take place throughout the weekend alongside the AMA Pro class, and local riders are invited and encouraged to compete in the event, as ATVMX offers classes for riders of all skill and experience levels. The amateur race entry fee is $50 and riders can sign up at the event.

Saturday spectator passes run $20 for adults and $10 for children (6-11), with kids five and under getting in for free. Each pass includes pro pit access and pro autographs at no additional charge.

RacerTV will provide an event highlight video of the racing action from Saturday, and a highlight show featuring the High Point ATVMX National will air on MAVTV on Saturday, July 7 at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Dylan Tremellen will look to improve his championship standing this weekend in front of his family and friends.
