SUBJECT: COMPETITION BULLETIN 2018-4:

Foreign Rider Eligibility Requirement

An issue has arisen with regard to the eligibility of foreign riders to participate in amateur classes. Many foreign countries do not have an ATV classification system similar to the AMA, hence it is difficult to classify a foreign rider in the proper class, especially on race weekend when access to verifiable data is limited. To avoid this situation, it is necessary that foreign riders wishing to the compete in the ATVMX National program obtain prior approval from the AMA.

According, Rule A, Rider Eligibility and Classification, has been revised to include the following provision:

10. Foreign Riders: Foreign or Non-US citizens must obtain eligibility approval from the AMA prior to participating in the ATVMX National program at any event. Click HERE for AMA International License Eligibility Application.

A similar rule has been in place for the motorcycle division for the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships.
