Westley Wolfe Race Update – ATV Motocross

It’s been a busy summer for Westley Wolfe as he competes in both the GNCC and ATV Motocross (ATVMX) series, with only two rounds remaining in the Wiseco ATV Motocross National Championship, Wolfe is currently ranked ninth in the AMA Pro class and second in Pro-Am.

Most recently, Wolfe traveled to New Berlin, New York for the Unadilla National. On Saturday, Wolfe qualified in ninth in the AMA Pro class and once the gate dropped for the first moto has back in ninth at the completion of the opening lap. Wolfe battled with some of the sports’ veterans during the first half of the race, but settled into an eighth-place pace at the halfway point. Wolfe continued to tackle the wide-open New York track, ultimately crossing the finish line in eighth.

As he rounded the corner for Moto 2, Wolfe was back in the ninth-place position. Once again he was busy racing with veteran pro riders, but held his own and made the pass back for eighth on lap four. Wolfe wasn’t able to hold the position for long where his competitor passed him back on the next lap, but Wolfe continued pushing himself and passed back for eighth with only two laps remaining. A pair of eighth-place moto finishes earned Wolfe an impressive eighth overall in the AMA Pro class at Unadilla,

Coming off one of his best finishes the day before, Wolfe was more than ready for the second day of racing in the Pro-Am class. Wolfe didn’t fair off well with the randomized gate assignment for the first moto, where he had the last gate pick and was forced to select an outside gate. With the short, right handed sweeping turn, Wolfe tried to make quick work and make a pass, but unfortunately came together with another rider and went down. Wolfe’s recovery took longer that he would have hoped and the Honda rider placed thirteenth in the opening Pro-Am moto.

Wolfe was looking for redemption in the fourth and final moto of his weekend, and jumped out to a mid-pack start. As he approached timing and scoring for the first lap, Wolfe was running fourth. The top-four racers were running an incredible race together, and Wolfe took over third with only three laps remaining. His 8-3 moto tally scored Wolfe eighth overall on Sunday.

Wolfe is currently in Buchanan, Michigan for the penultimate round of ATV Motocross where he just finished sixth overall in the AMA Pro class. A full report on RedBud will follow the completion of the event.
