Over the weekend, the AMA ATV MX Pro National Championship series headed to Unadilla Valley Raceway in New Berlin, NY for another round of racing. Wienen Motorsports' Chad Wienen went 2-2 for a second overall.
In moto 1, Wienen came out of the first turn in third and had to fight to pass the rider holding the second place position for a few laps. Wienen was finally able ot move into second but had a sizable gap between himself and the rider in first and was unable to make up any distance and took second in moto 1.
In moto 2, with a similar start, Wienen came out of the first turn once again in third making quick work, Wienen moved into second place before the end of the first lap. Sights set on the rider in first, Wienen maintained a gap of about a second between him and the rider in first but was unable to make any advances.
"I really needed starts this weekend and I they weren't there for me. With the fast pace of the Unadilla track I was happy with the 2-2 finish and my moto 2 ride maintaining a close distance to the rider in first. With a close championship points chase I lost the series points leader position this weekend but with two more rounds of racing left I'm ready to look forward and keep digging to get back the red plate." Said Wienen.
The series heads to Red Bud MX next on Saturday July 29 for the next round of racing.
