Daytona International Speedway is the world’s racing headquarters. For just the second time ever, these hallowed grounds would play host to the world’s greatest ATV racers, the opening round of the ATV Motocross Pro National Championship Tour. Cody Janssen, former AMA ATV Pro Rookie of the Year and reigning ATV Derby Pro World Champion, came into round one confident. Having made some calculated changes and improvements to his program over the offseason, and making the switch back to the #25 he made famous, the fun had been pumped back in to the 23-year old’s program and the sky is the limit in 2016!
Cody Janssen started off the day strong, qualifying firmly inside the top 10. Janssen, riding the freshly minted #25, continued to impress getting into qualifying position and making it directly to the main event with a 6th place finish in his heat race. Cody would go on to get in a little tangle up in the first corner of the main event, but came on strong to finish 12th. The 6-12 score, and getting out of Daytona healthy, was a good starting point for the Janssen team. The first official race of the 2016 season takes place a few weeks from now in Kemp, Texas.
“First of all, to be back racing in Daytona again is such a blessing.” Janssen said post-race. “We were solid [at Daytona]. We qualified strong, our speed is there, but without stellar holeshots on a one-lined track we just didn’t make it easy on ourselves. That being said, I’m not discouraged! My program is better than it’s ever been, we laid the groundwork down there and now we build! My program is capable of winning, no question, so now it’s up to me. This race was only half-points for the Pro Class and no points for Pro Am, so I’m ready to get to Texas and get the real season started. It’s no secret my main priority is to win the Pro Am National Championship this year and we’ll be ready come Texas.”
Since getting back to Wisconsin, Cody has teamed up with two more great companies to help him achieve this goals in 2016: 4Arm Strong and Risk Racing. Just a few days after the first race of 2016, he was back on the ATV training and improving at beautiful Sunset Ridge Mx. Improvements will be made and the Londerville Steel/Janssen Motorsports #25 rider will be ready come Texas but we have a great starting point!
Cody’s 2016 season wouldn’t be possible without the great care and support of the people that continue to back him. He must thank his parents/family and the rest of the Janssen Motorsports crew; Thank you to the Londerville family and Londerville Steel for stepping up for Cody when he needed it most.
