This past weekend the Mtn. Dew AMA ATV Motocross headed to Blountville, Tenn. for it's fourth round of racing at Muddy Creek MX. Wienen Motorsports Chad Wienen took second overall with a 2-2 finish and continues to secure the points lead heading into round 5.
Wienen had to work for his finishing position in moto 1 as he came out of the first turn towards the back of the field. He quickly made passes and sat in eighth at the end of the first lap. Making advances on the field, Wienen moved his way into fifith by the halfway point and continued to move forward all the way up to third with one lap to go. Able to make a clean pass, Wienen moved into the second place position with a few corners left in moto 1.
When the gate dropped for the second moto, Wienen got off to a much better start and was in the third place position at the end of the first lap. Moving into second on lap two, Wienen closed the gap between the first place rider and himself. After a few mistakes from the rider in first, Wienen made a pass for the lead in the third lap. Wienen held onto the lead for a majority of the race but with two laps to go the second place rider was able to make a pass and Wienen came across the finish line in second.
"I was very happy with the way that I rode this past weekend. The first moto was probably the best performance I have been able to put in this season being able to make passes quickly. In the second moto, I gated better I still need to work on my reaction time off of the gate. I felt strong throughout the entire moto. I am looking forward to High Point and the next round of racing." stated Wienen.
Wienen Motorsports Brett Musick is still working on finding his stride in the pro class, he finished just outside of the top 10 in both motos on Saturday for a thirteenth overall finish at Round 4.
The Wienen Motorsports amateur team showed some great riding on Sunday with two podium finishes. In Pro-Am youngster Cole Sepesi earned his podium finish with a third overall finish. This was Sepesi's first podium finish in Pro-Am and aboard his 450. Also in Pro-Am, Wienen Motorsports' Brett Musick finished 5-5 on Sunday for a fourth overall finish and Pablo Vera took eighth overall for Wienen Motorsports first event with all three Pro-Am riders inside the top ten.
Pablo Vera took first overall in the Pro-Sport class when his second place finish in moto two secured him his best finish and first podium here in the US. Cole Sepesi finished third in moto one of Pro-Sport and on the first lap of moto two had a hard wreck and was unable to complete the moto. Sepesi had taken a hard hit to the ground and was severely bruised but is healing and looking forward to getting back on his machine.
The Mtn. Dew AMA ATV MX National Circuit will head to Mt. Morris, PA to High Point Raceway on May 16 and 17 for the fifth round of the series.
