Welcome to Site Lap!

2015 seems to have hit the ground running and the ATV Racin’ Nation is full steam ahead to March, and the round 1 opener, which to many will be a new venue but to the veterans it will be almost a homecoming. The new season has great things in store and everyone seems ready to embrace it with open arms. This season is poised to be the greatest in the history of this championship and will be a monumental year.  When the Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship kicks at the notorious Echeconnee MX in Lizella, Georgia it will begin a new era.

The excitement still reels for the inaugural running of the Fly Racing ATVSX at Daytona International Speedway on Tuesday March 10, 2015. Pre-registration is going strong and if you want to ensure a spot on the gate then you best get busy. Time and space is running out and the rumors are that nearly every big name in ATV racing will be there. I am sure there may even be some past champions of our sport their usher in the start of what many expect to be huge in our sport. If you can’t make it for whatever reason, don’t forget it will be live on RacerTV.com.

The exciting news continues to flow this New Year as well. I got a rather exciting announcement from Maddie Guyer about the big changes in the JB Racing Team. Check this out:

Hey Rodney it’s Maddie! I just wanted to get in touch with you about the JB Racing team for 2015. There are lots of new and exciting things coming that are going be good for not only the JB Team, but for the series as well!

The JB Team had expanded and split into 3 different tents. We will have the JB Liquid Wrench Pro Team consisting of Jeffrey Rastrelli and Joel Hetrick. Our second tent will be the JB Can-Am Live Wire team consisting of Blake Sarver, Tyler Peters, and newest member Logan Dusenberry. Our third and final tent will be the JB Liquid Wrench Amateur Team consisting of Grayson Eller, Brogan Guyer, Maddie Guyer, Logan Peters, and newest teammate Peyton Zimmerman. As you've read 2 of the teams have a new sponsor of Liquid Wrench.

We are hoping for a lot of great things to come with this partnership! The team came together over Christmas in Georgia to test new set-ups for 2015. It's going to be a great year for JB Racing! Thanks Rodney can't wait to see you!

Thanks for the information Maddie! So, if you folks did not catch that, Liquid Wrench is the title sponsor of the JB Pro and JB Amateur teams. The second outside of the industry sponsor we see now on that team alone. Mtn. Dew Live Wire and Liquid Wrench are starting to find their way into our little secret society, and could herald the coming of something big for our sport. However folks let me be the one to warn you that with growth comes change and I for one hope you are ready to embrace it. The future is now! It looks like someday may be almost here.

Let’s check in with Ken “Hey Taxi!” Hill:

The new season is coming at us fast! I really haven’t given a ton of thought to just how close we really are as I was consumed by the activities that keep me sane through the winter months so, in just a little over 60 days we will be on the historic Daytona dirt to watch history play out! Indeed it will be historic for those that get a chance to shred the Daytona track that has been so long reserved for the bike crowd. I might just have to drop down and make a dirt angel! There are a few spots open in a few classes so check over the enrollment page and get signed up! This is one of those races that you want to run so in twenty years you can say, “I raced the first ever ATVSX at Daytona!”

There is still very little coming across social media as far as our Pro riders are concerned. I spied our series champ Chad Wienen getting in some training down in Florida with several top GNCC riders, so we know he is getting ready for another title defense. John Natalie gets a pass thanks to a new beautiful daughter; I would expect nothing less than to see the proud promotion of the newest Natalie! There has been some flickers of light coming out of the Brown camp and the humor they throw around is always fun and a blast to follow. So, unless I missed something, it is still very quiet out there!

Looking way ahead, this season might just be one for the record books. With the rider/team changes, it will be very interesting to see how this all plays out. I cannot seem to find any weakness in any of the changes only the strength of areas that should really benefit the riders, which should take us to another season of bar-to-bar racing and a close run for the championship. That intensity will flow down into the Amateur classes as many of the youth riders are now climbing through the ranks. For me, when that gate drops I want to see that intensity in every class, I believe that is what it will take to get people to the track and keep them there.

The recent drop in fuel prices are going to really help those doing the running if they remain low. It is a two-way sword for many in the series as they make a living off of oil production in one form or another. We will keep an eye on this as we close in on round one and see if the lower travel costs gets a few more riders on the gate.

That is all from me this week. I do want to wish the Tomblin family my deepest condolences as they have suffered the loss of Rodney’s father. Losing a loved one is never easy and I know all of you join me in saying we wish them the best in this difficult time.

Thanks Ken! Brighter days are certainly ahead and it’s starting to shine through everywhere!
