Wienen Motorsports Heads to the Podium Again at Round 2
Wienen and Brown take 2nd and 3rd at Round 2
The Wienen Motorsports SSi Walsh Yamaha presented by Maxxis Tires & Team Vollmer team found themselves on the box again at round 2 of the 2013 Mtn. Dew ATVMX Pro National Championship Series. Chad Wienen claimed second overall with a 2-2 finish and Thomas Brown took third overall after finishing 3-4.
Both Wienen Motorsports riders found themselves in the top five coming out of the first turn in moto one. Brown came out in the fourth place position and was able to battle his way up to the second place position before halfway into the moto. Wienen came out of the first turn in fifth but was back in seventh by the end of the first lap when he tried to ride out of the main line to make some passes and contact put him outside of the track. Making quick work on the field Wienen made his way up to the third place position before the halfway point.
Brown and Wienen engaged in a heated battle for the second place position for the remainder of the moto putting on a great show for the spectators. Wienen was able to put a move on Brown with one lap to go and was able to make it stick crossing the checkers in second with Brown behind him in third.
“I am pumped to be leaving round 2 on the box again and looking forward to putting this machine closer to the top of the box at the next round,” said Brown.
As the gate for moto two dropped, Wienen and Brown once again came charging out of the first turn in the top five. Wienen grabbed the second place position and attempted to charge the first place rider early on but made couple mistakes and was unable to gain any positions. Brown came out of the first turn in fourth and had a steady battle with veteran rider John Natalie and was able to maintain the fourth place position all the way to the checkers.
“I’m happy with the end result from the weekend with a second overall and leaving round two with the points lead. I am anxious for Round 3 and getting back to that top spot on the box,” said Wienen.
The 2013 Mtn. Dew ATVMX Pro National Championship will continue at Round 3 in Bowling Green, KY at Balance MX Saturday April 27.
