MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - MX Sports is proud to announce the creation of the American Motocross Championships, an alliance made up of an elite group of race organizers that host premier amateur and professional motocross events in America. Including five major amateur motocross events and the two premier professional motocross racing series, the American Motocross Championships will provide vertical integration from the youngest of competitors to the top level of professional racing, all the way back to the Vet levels.
The select group of events begins in March with the Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross and James Stewart AMA Spring Championship, The Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross in June, followed by the granddaddy of them all”â the Red Bull AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s”â in August and the historical Thor Winter Olympics over Thanksgiving. Also included in the American Motocross Championships are the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, and the Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship.
The goal is to satisfy the needs of the racing community and industry stakeholders by working with one another and the respective sanctioning bodies to develop best practices for amateur racing, while maintaining the individuality and heritage of each unique event. The mission is to create a common voice through the sharing of information in order to develop event safety protocol, standardized class structure, scoring and rules, while providing calendar and geographic balance throughout the year.
"We at Unlimited Sports are excited to be a part of this prestigious group of promoters,” said Wyn Kern, Director at Unlimited Sports MX. “I look forward to sharing information with the group that will help us all better serve the racing families and the industry.”
This group of race promoters will mimic the highly successful model of the National Promoters Group (NPG), whose cooperative efforts have been the driving force for the evolution of modern pro motocross. The American Motocross Championships will continue to model its mission around the proven success that the NPG has achieved since its formation in 1998.
“The Mammoth Motocross team is very excited about the opportunity to be involved in the American Motocross alliance,” said Myron Short of 2xpromotions. “We believe all the promoters together can come up with a solid plan to help grow amateur racing at the grassroots level.”
