2013 is in full swing and with the way the weather patterns have been here in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania makes one feel the season approaching even more. Though it is still several weeks away the urge to get it going is nearly overwhelming.

Event Coordinator Dean VanLeeuwen is even smiling right now. He said he is ready to roll out to Aonia Pass in Georgia for round one and get the banners up and the pits laid out. And actually I hear that Aonia is already open and running practices for this spring's ATVMX National. The news I have been hearing is the track is prime and looking good.

As far as information this week there I really don't have a lot to contribute. As everyone knows this is a very busy season as everyone readies themselves the upcoming season. There is plenty to get excited about as teams are being announced and the new title sponsor of the series has been announced.

Welcome to the ATV Racin' Nation Mt. Dew. That's right ATVMX is actually being sponsored by the soft drink giant and this alone is another huge asset to the series. On top of being televised on NBC Sports, this is another monumental achievement for our sport.

Recently we were all saddened to hear the news of long time ATVMX Referee and ATV enthusiast Bob "Smitty" Smith. I know there has been a lot of questions as to whether anything special is going to be done to honor his memory. I can say that right now there are plans in the works to honor Smitty at round one but a celebration of life is being planned for his favorite and home track at Birch Creek Motorsports near his home in Danville. Details will come soon.

Also if you have not checked the website lately there are several updates for with schedule information, Supplemental Rules, class details are up and soon the weekend schedules and race orders will be announced. I am told that it should be out in plenty of time to make arrangements for the new season.

Other details you may be wanting to pay attention to include the rules and such that have been posted. Also if there are any changes or alterations those will be announced on the website. So I suggest you should check the site for updates everyday so you can stay on top of the game.

As far as the action right now. As busy as it is it has been a little quiet. It appears everyone is working hard to better themselves in 2013. The bar was raised at every level in 2012 and the level of competition is expected to intensify in the new season.

If you are looking for a fix of ATV racing be sure and check out www.RacerTVOnline.com. There you can find episodes of Racer TV featuring ATVMX. It may not be what you want but it can surely at least satisfy the beast for a few days anyway. That is if it doesn't make things worse and get you chomping at the bit even more.

One last thing before I go this week, I know the promoters offer places for chapel services to be conducted each round. Unfortunately this past season there was no designated leader and it became kind of a hit and miss affair. Right now I propose that if you feel led to help in this department please contact Dean or myself and we will see what can be done. I feel that there is someone being called and it may just be you, so move.

That is about all we have this week and if you would like to contribute with any comments or news about yourself, be sure and drop me a note at [email protected].

Till next time, God Bless Your Heart and All Your Vital Organs.
