Natalie and Hetrick Return to Home State for Round 6 of ATVMX at High Point Raceway This Weekend
‚
Morgantown, W.Va. (June 12, 2012) ”“ High Point Raceway has been home to professional and amateur motocross racing for over thirty years, and the 2012 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship Series returns to historic Mount Morris, Pa. this weekend, June 16 and 17 for Round 6 of the ten-race series. Pennsylvania natives John Natalie and Joel Hetrick are looking to beat out points leader Chad Wienen in front of their home crowd, as they sit within striking distance of the championship title at the season’s halfway point this weekend.
‚
Motoworks/Can-Am’s Natalie currently holds the second place spot with a consistent string of top three finishes, including his first 2012 victory at Round 5. The defending champ swept both motos under the lights and now carries a high level of confidence heading into Round 6.
‚
““We took the win last round in Kentucky and I’m definitely ready to keep the momentum rolling here in Pennsylvania,” said Natalie. ““I’ve always liked the track at High Point, so I’m excited to be back and go for another win so close to home.”
‚
Chad Wienen still holds the red number plate as he takes his Wienen Motorsports/SSi Decals/Walsh Race Craft/Yamaha team into the halfway mark still holding the points lead over Natalie, Hetrick and the rest of the field. Hetrick has yet to win a moto this season, but the young gun posted an overall win over the veterans in Round 3.
‚
Baldwin Motorsports/PEP/Maxxis’ Josh Upperman trails Hetrick by only five points for the third place spot in the overall point standings. Upperman continues to battle with TBROWN Yamaha/Moto-X-Perts’ Thomas Brown, as the two have exchanged besting finishes each weekend and currently round out the top five in the overall points.
‚
The pro riders will run Saturday as part of a full schedule of amateur racing, including classes for Youth, Women and Veteran riders. Amateurs will practice on Friday and race on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets on Saturday are $20 for spectators ($10 for ages 6-11), and admission includes full pro-pit access and an autograph session.
