Wienen Dominates First Moto at Loretta Lynn’s
HURRICANE MILLS, Tenn. (Aug. 10, 2008) -- Chad Wienen (No. 44 Team Rockstar/ MSR/Suzuki/Yoshimura/Pro Taper Suzuki) backed up his quick qualifying run and won the first Pro ATV moto Sunday at Loretta Lynn Ranch. The event, part of ATV Dirt Days here, is the season finale for the ITP Tires/Moose Racing AMA/ATVA National Championship Presented by Parts Unlimited.
Wienen started in the top five, then methodically picked his way to the front of the pack, taking the lead on lap six, then pulling away to the checkered flag.
“I’ve been working hard and I really wanted to get this win today,” said, Weinen. “I don’t know what it is about this track, I don’t like it anymore than any of the others, I just seem to be fast here. My quad is working perfectly and it helped me get to the front. I’m looking forward to finishing the job in moto two and getting the monkey off my back.”
Josh Upperman (No. 20 American Honda/Baldwinn Motorsports) grabbed yet another Suspension Systems Holeshot award and led the 20-rider field to the green flag. Hot on his heels was Josh Creamer (No. 9 Monster Energy Kawasaki), who moved into the lead on lap four. Meanwhile, Wienen was charging through the pack setting consistently fast lap times. Wienen took second on lap four then set his sights on Creamer, setting up a pass for the lead. From there, he rode uncontested.
Doug Gust (No. 55 No. 44 Team Rockstar/ MSR/Suzuki/Yoshimura/Pro Taper Suzuki), Dustin Wimmer (No. 191 Team Rockstar/ MSR/Suzuki/Yoshimura/Pro Taper Suzuki), and Upperman completed the top five.
