Wimmer Clinches AMA Championship!
Teammate Wienen Wins Moto 1 at Red Bud

BUCHANAN, Mich. (July 27, 2008) ”“ Dustin Wimmer's dreams finally came to fruition Sunday at Red Bud Raceway as the Center Valley, Pa. racer added one more accolade to his long resume of accomplishments: The 2008 AMA Championship. Wimmer (No. 191 Team MSR/Suzuki/Yoshimura/Pro Taper Suzuki) finished fourth in the first moto and clinched the title during Round 10 of the 2008 Moose Racing/ITP Tires AMA/ATVA National Championship. Chad Wienen won the moto.

"It really hasn't set in yet," said a nearly speechless Wimmer from the podium, while holding the coveted AMA No. 1 plate. "This has been just a great season. I just went out there and rode safely. I tried to stay consistent, though it was difficult. I fought a bent tie-rod during the moto."

Wimmer's 2008 statistics speak for themselves: five overall victories, two additional podiums and one fifth-place finish. Now Wimmer said he wants to add a couple more wins to this year's tally.

"My Suzuki team members deserve most of the credit," said Wimmer. "My bike has been just perfect all year, and that's how you win championships. We're going to fix some things on the quad, and go out and try to get another overall win."

Wienen (No. 44 Team Rockstar/MSR/Suzuki/Yoshimura/Pro Taper Suzuki) showed his injuries from earlier this year are well healed as he won the first moto. Josh Creamer (No. 9 Team Monster Energy/Kawasaki) took the Suspension Systems holeshot award, and looked checked out into his own zip code. However, mechanical problems on lap four sidelined Creamer, handing Wienen the lead for good. Joe Byrd (No. 7 American Honda/Joe Byrd Quad School Honda) was second, ahead of Doug Gust (No. 55 Team Rockstar/MSR/Suzuki/Yoshimura/Pro Taper Suzuki),

The second Pro moto is scheduled for today at 3 p.m.
