JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (July, 13 2008) -- Team MSR/Suzuki/Yoshimura/Pro Taper Suzuki ace Dustin Wimmer was the fastest rider in a field of 20 ATV Pros qualifying for today's American Suzuki Summer National at Pleasure Valley Raceway. The event marks Round 9 of the ITP Tires/Moose Racing ATV National Motocross Series Presented by Parts Unlimited.
While it was Rockstar/Suzuki/Yoshimura/Pro Taper rider Chad Weinen setting the early pace, Wimmer was able to put in a quick lap near the end of the session to top the speed chart, winning the Ti-Lube Fast Qualifier Award. Second quick was the aforementioned Wienen with Pat Brown (Factory Yamaha/Golden West Cycles) rounding out the top three.
The qualifying session was a big change from yesterday as heavy rains saturated the track surface. The track crew had been busy at work since sunrise. Although the track is nearing ideal conditions, dark clouds fill the sky and it is beginning to sprinkle again.
"It was pretty click out there," said Wimmer. "The track was wet and one-lined, but some lines developed towards the end of the session. I’m going to concentrate on getting a good start and staying up front. My teammate is riding well, so i'm just focusing on getting a good start.”
Pro motos are scheduled for noon and 3 p.m. today. The ATV American Suzuki Summer Nationals will also feature a full card of Amateur, Youth and Women's racing.
