ATVMX National Race Report
Hetrick Goes 1-1-1 to Start the 2026 Season
FOUNTAIN, Fla. (March 17, 2026) – The 2026 ATV Motocross National Championship Series (ATVMX), an AMA National Championship, kicked off with AMA Pro ATVMX racing on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Decker’s Training Facility in Fountain, Florida. This event would be a Pro Only event and host the season’s first AMA Pro Triple Crown event.
With three motos on the schedule instead of the traditional two, the format demanded consistency, endurance, and smart racing from the sport’s top ATV motocross athletes. Riders faced a fast, technical layout that pushed both machine setup and rider fitness to the limit, setting the tone for what promises to be a highly competitive championship battle. From the opening gate drop, the intensity was high as the nation’s best ATV racers fought for early-season momentum in front of an energized crowd eager to see who would strike first in the title chase.
Phoenix Racing Yamaha’s Joel Hetrick delivered a flawless performance in the opening round of the ATVMX Series, sweeping all three motos with an impressive 1-1-1 finish at Decker’s Training Facility. The defending champion set the tone early by grabbing the first moto win and never letting the momentum slip, showcasing both his raw speed and race management throughout the day. Despite the added challenge of the three-moto format, Hetrick remained composed and consistent, controlling each race and fending off pressure from a stacked Pro field. His perfect score to start the 2026 AMA Pro ATVMX season immediately established him as the rider to beat as the championship battle gets underway.
Decker Training Facility/K5 Motosports/Walsh Race Craft's Zack Decker secured second overall at Round 1 after a hard-fought day of racing in his home state of Florida. Decker showed strong speed throughout the Triple Crown motos and remained a constant presence at the front of the pack. Right behind him, ML2 Motorsports/RWI Motorsports/Wienen Motorsports' Max Lindquist kept the pressure on all day, battling bar-to-bar with Decker in multiple motos as the two riders fought for position in the overall standings. Their intense back-and-forth racing kept fans on the edge of their seats and ultimately saw Lindquist claim third overall, capping off an exciting opening round where both riders proved they will be serious contenders as the 2026 AMA Pro ATVMX season unfolds.
TDR Motorsports/Brick Property Maintenance/RWI Motorsport's Mason Jackson put together a solid performance in the Triple Crown format to earn fourth overall with consistent 3-5-4 moto finishes. Jackson showed strong pace throughout the day, keeping himself in the mix with the front runners and capitalizing on consistent results across all three motos. Just behind him in the overall standings, Baldwin Motors/JB ATV Racing/Pro Graphx's Joey Norris rounded out the top five after posting 5-4-5 finishes on the day. Norris maintained steady rides in each moto, battling inside the top five and proving his ability to stay competitive in the demanding three-moto format at Decker’s Training Facility.
TDR Motorsports/RP Race Performance/JB ATV Racing's Noah Arnal and Williams Performance/JH Racing/VAP Motorsport's Damien Hubert put in determined rides throughout the demanding Triple Crown format to finish sixth and seventh overall, respectively, at Round 1. Arnal showed flashes of speed across all three motos, staying competitive in the deep Pro field and piecing together consistent finishes to secure his spot just outside the top five. Close behind, Hubert battled through the pack all day, improving his positions as the motos unfolded and demonstrating resilience in the physically taxing three-race format. Both riders proved they have the pace and determination to be factors as the 2026 AMA Pro ATVMX season continues.
Rastrelli Racing/Williams Performance/Rocket Machining Design's Brandon Hoag’s day showed promise early on before being cut short in the final moto of the Triple Crown. Hoag posted solid 11-6 finishes in the first two motos, making noticeable progress and finding a better rhythm as the day went on. However, he was unable to line up for the third moto, ending his overall bid prematurely. Despite the setback, Hoag’s improvement between motos demonstrated his potential to push further up the field when he’s able to put together a full three-race effort.
GNCC racer, Phoenix Racing Yamaha's John Glauda Jr. made a strong showing in his ATVMX appearance, securing ninth overall at Round 1 with consistent rides across the Triple Crown motos. Known for his off-road prowess, Glauda Jr. adapted well to the motocross setting and proved he can compete inside the top ten against a deep Pro field. Rounding out the top ten, Highline Racing/JB ATV Racing/TDR Motorsport's Adam Ulrich put together a steady day of racing to claim tenth overall, maintaining consistent finishes and battling through the pack in each moto. Both riders demonstrated determination and versatility in the demanding three-moto format at Decker’s Training Facility.
Next up on the season schedule is round two for the AMA Pro class at Echeconnee MX in Lizella, Georgia on March 28-29, this event will also be the first round of racing for all amateur, WMX, Pro Sport and Pro-Am classes. For more information check out the Echeconnee MX event page.
