AMA U.S. ATV Motocross Team Prepares to Secure Seventh FIM Quadcross of Nations Title
Tune in to Watch Ford, Hetrick and Wienen Compete in the Netherlands
As the AMA U.S. ATV Motocross Team arrives in the Netherlands this week, the trio of Ford Brothers Racing/FXR/SSi Decals/CST’s Bryce Ford, Phoenix Racing Yamaha’s Joel Hetrick and Wienen Motorsports/Maxxis/SSi Decals/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Chad Wienen look forward to achieving the team’s seventh title at the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) Quadcross of Nations on September 27-28.
This year, Digging Deep ATVMX Podcast’s Cody Janssen will be co-commentating the English version of the broadcast on the livestream from his studio in Wisconsin. Fans can tune into the event for $22.39 USD at https://fim-moto.tv/subscribe/products/a872cbb2-8205-4a2e-84ad-48a37225f961 or view live timing at no cost at https://www.fimsidecarcross.com/live-timing.
U.S. supporters can catch the action at the following times:
Practice – Saturday at 4:40 a.m. Eastern
Qualifying – Saturday at 10:25 a.m. Eastern
Racing – Sunday at 6 a.m. Eastern
The team’s victory last year means that the FIM has designated their competition numbers to be one, two and three for 2025. Team Manager Mark Baldwin considered the time between the 25-minute plus one-lap races to account for each rider’s recovery time, machine prep or possible repairs. He has assigned a number to each U.S. rider, which defines the motos they will compete in.
Runner-up in the AMA Pro ATV Motocross National Championship this year, Ford will display the #1 on his ATV. It’s his fourth time representing the team, and Glen Schlude will serve as his mechanic.
Hetrick, a six-time AMA Pro ATV Motocross National Champion and six-time member of the team, will sport #2 for the competition. His mechanic overseas will be Jim Hardy.
Assigned the #3, Wienen will serve on the team for the sixth time. Paul Turner will mechanic for the eight-time champion of the AMA Pro ATV Motocross National Championship Series.
“Members of the team and their support systems have collaborated once again to bring our best attitude, energy and skills to the international competition,” said Team Manager Mark Baldwin of Baldwin Motorsports. “This circuit features deep sand, which is something our athletes are not accustomed to in the United States. The riders’ mechanics had to make modifications to the ATVs in order for the larger sand tires to fit. Despite this new challenge, our three riders are equipped to defend the team’s title.”
On Saturday, each rider will take part in a qualifying moto. They will race against one member of each country to determine who will have the best gate-pick for the following day.
On Sunday, riders will each race in two motos, with the team’s five best scores combined for an overall finish position. Each moto will have one of the U.S. team’s racers on the front row and one on the back row, as the third rider sits out.
The following details the motos that each rider will compete in:
- Moto 1: Ford and Hetrick
- Moto 2: Hetrick and Wienen
- Moto 3: Ford and Wienen
Ford, Hetrick and Wienen will compete at the Kamperweg Heerde Circuit aboard Yamaha YFZ450R machines. Yamaha’s support, in addition to numerous other sponsors, continue to boost the team’s FIM World Championship efforts against more than 50 of the world’s top ATV racers.
Previously announced, Harv Whipple will serve as the AMA delegate, and Jody Bateman of JB Racing will serve as the crew chief.
“Sponsors are critical to the team’s success on the global stage,” said Team Delegate Harv Whipple. “From preparation to travel to onsite expenses, sponsors make it possible for the team to chase another FIM World Championship aboard their Yamaha ATVs.”
