Second Overall for Wienen at Round 3
Mother nature took its course this past weekend at Round 3 of the AMA ATV MX National Championship series. In the rain and mud, Wienen went 3-1 for second overall.
With starts being key, Wienen was able to start inside the top three out of the first turn in moto 1. With a distance of over five seconds between himself and Rastrelli sitting in second place by the second lap Wienen put his head down and was able to close that gap to one second by halfway through the moto. After catching up to lapped traffic, Wienen dropped back from the battle for second and went on to finish moto 1 in third.
In moto 2 Wienen was able to grab the hole shot and went on to maintain the lead until the checkers flew.
“The conditions were gnarly and some of the toughest mud conditions I’ve seen in my career to date. Starts were key this past weekend and I am happy to have come out with a holeshot and win in the weekend. The next round of racing continues in two weeks and I am looking forward to getting back to racing."
Round 4 resumes April 30 at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania.
