Back on Top for Wienen at Unadilla

Unadilla Valley Raceway hosted Round 7 of the AMA ATV MX Pro National Championship this past weekend and Wienen Motorsports’ Chad Wienen was at the top of the field all weekend.
Wienen grabbed the fastest qualifier in morning practice by a near second over the rest of the field setting himself up for a good gate pick for moto 1.
Mother Nature came through just before moto 1 with a heavy downpour and Wienen opted for the mud set up on his Yamaha YFZ450R.
With any mud race getting to that first turn out front is essential and Wienen came out of the moto 1 holeshot in second. He passed for the lead within the first few turns and never looked back. Wienen went on to take the first checkers of the day over 12 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
As the gate dropped for moto 2, Wienen once again found himself out front but this time grabbed the holeshot. Closely followed by the rest of the field, Wienen put in a heater lap on the second lap and went on to extend his lead each lap of moto by putting in the fastest lap each time around the track. Wienen finished moto 2 once again with over a 12 second lead.
“I really felt in tuned with my machine this weekend and I was pumped to have been able to secure a 1-1 finish. The efforts our crew has put into our set up on the machine really shined through this weekend and I’m pumped to have regained the points lead back with three races left in the 2021 season. Looking forward to heading to Red Bud next and am in hopes we can keep this momentum going.”
Sunday racing and the Pro Production Stock class was cancelled due to inclement weather.
The AMA ATV MX National Circuit resumes July 31 and August 1 at Red Bud MX in Buchanan, Michigan.
