Chad Wienen Looks to Keep Momentum Rolling Into Ironman National
AMA Pro ATV Racing Prepares for Showdown in Indiana

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 2, 2018) – The 2018 ATV Motocross National Championship (ATVMX) Series, presented by CST Tires, an AMA National Championship, heads to Crawfordsville, Indiana for round four at Ironman Raceway this Saturday, May 5. This weekend will be nothing short of exciting with Wienen Motorsports/Yamaha/Maxxis’ Chad Wienen looking to keep his momentum rolling, while Rockford Fosgate/Ti-Lube/Honda’s Joel Hetrick is looking to earn valuable championship points.

With two wins behind him this season, Wienen is looking to add another overall win and extend his points lead. Wienen is on a mission to earn that number one plate back at the conclusion of the 2018 season, but he will have to fight off an ambitious group of AMA Pro ATV riders throughout the duration of the season. After winning the season opener and round three, Wienen knows that earning the overall win is not an easy task this year.

Wienen currently leads the championship points standings heading in Indiana, and will look to add another win to his resume on Saturday.

Hetrick has been no stranger to the middle of the box in Indiana, as he has stood there at the conclusion of 2016 and 2017’s Ironman ATVMX National. Hetrick is hoping to earn his second overall win of the season this Saturday, as he currently sits second overall, just nine points behind Wienen. Hetrick is more than capable of earning another win this season, and will look to do so this weekend as he continues his journey to defend his National Championship.

Baldwin/Jeff Rastrelli Land Grading/Ford Brothers Racing Honda’s Jeffrey Rastrelli has been a regular in the third place position thus far this season. Rastrelli is looking to have one of his most consistent racing years to date, as he continues to battle at the front of the pack. After finishing second in moto one at the previous round, Rastrelli is eager to gain momentum and earn his first overall win of the season.

After winning the Ironman National the past two years, Hetrick is hoping to make it a three-peat this weekend.

Coming into this weekend Tbrown84 Training/CST Tires Thomas Brown is hoping to repeat his success from the first Ironman National in 2015. Brown currently sits fourth in the championship hunt, but he is looking to get back to the front of the pack and make up valuable points this Saturday.

After GennUSA Racing’s Nick Gennusa finished fourth in Texas, with a third place finish in moto two, he’s hoping to battle for his first overall podium finish of the season. Gennusa has steadily been improving since his move to the AMA Pro ATV ranks in 2015, but he’s looking to battle at the front of the pack this year and contest for the National Championship.

Nick Gennusa is hoping his hardwork will pay off heading into round four, so he can earn his first overall podium finish.

Currently sitting sixth in points is Ford Brothers Racing/Baldwin Motorsports’ Ronnie Higgerson. Since finishing on the overall podium in 2016 at the High Point ATVMX National, Higgerson had an up-and-down season last year. He’s hoping to return to the podium this Saturday and battle with the front of the pack.

JH Racing/Walsh Race Craft/SSi Decals’ Zachary Kaczmarzyk has shown improvement through the first couple rounds this season. After finishing 13th overall last season, and only breaking into the top ten overall once in 2017, Kaczmarzyk is hoping to challenge for a top five overall finish this weekend in Indiana.

Westley Wolfe had his best performance at the previous round, placing fifth in the Pro division and first in the Pro-Am class.

Coming from a season-best fifth place finish at round three, GBC Motorsports/Hetrick Racing/Walsh Race Craft/Solo Pilot Westley Wolfe will be looking to carry that momentum into Ironman with the hopes of landing his first-ever AMA Pro ATV class podium. A hard crash at the opening round would set Wolfe’s season back early, but the AMA ATV Pro class Sophomore will be looking to rebound through the rest of the season and climb through the point standings. Another rider to keep an eye on will be Koster Racing’s Wes Lewis, who has two top-ten finishes thus far in 2018, and will be looking to move further up in the pack. 2017 Pro Am class champion, Hinson/Walsh Race Craft/Honda’s Parker Wewerka, has also claimed two top-ten finishes in 2018 and will be looking to claim his first-ever AMA ATV Pro class podium finish.

Saturday’s Pro race schedule is as follows: timed qualifying sessions at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Pro motos are at 2 and 4 p.m. with an autograph session taking place at 4:30 p.m.

Amateur racing will take place throughout the weekend alongside the AMA Pro class, and local riders are invited and encouraged to compete in the event, as ATVMX offers classes for riders of all skill and experience levels. The amateur race entry fee is $50 and riders can sign up at the event.
