This past weekend the AMA ATV MX National Championship series took to Spring Creek MX in Millville, Minn. where Wienen Motorsport's Chad Wienen went 2-2 overall for second overall for the weekend.
Wienen got off to a mid pack start in moto 1, coming out of the first turn just outside the top five. Making quick passes Wienen moved up into the third place position before the end of the first lap. Wienen went to work and moved up into the second place position just before the third lap. With over a seven second gap between Wienen and the first place rider by the time he moved into third Wienen was unable to close the gap and took second in moto 1.
With a better start in moto 2, Wienen came out of the first turn in second and was able to make a pass for the lead on the second lap through the infamous Millville whoop section. After starting to extend a lead, Wienen nearly crashed but managed to stay on top of the machine. Falling back into second Wienen had a near five-second gap between himself and the rider in first and finished the moto in second.
"Riding back in the Midwest felt great and had awesome support from my Fans and Team. Getting my starts back in line was key this weekend and made for smoother laps. Moto 1 went good with a 2nd place finish setting me up for a overall. Moto 2 came out second and made quick work of the rider out front and started to build my lead and about the halfway point had a big issue on the track that lead to me nearly loosing my machine but was able to recover and finish in second to secure a podium. Happy with the Team's performance and working towards Unadilla MX here in the next week" said Wienen.
The AMA ATV MX National Championship series heads to Unadilla Raceway in New Berlin, New York on July 17th for the next round of racing.
