Janssen Goes Grey at Sunset Ridge

Tuesday, June 20, 2017 | 4:00 PM

Sunset Ridge Mx, located in small-town Walnut, Illinois, is a motocross racer’s heaven. This picturesque landscape is not only arguably the best track and facility on the ATV Motocross National circuit, but it is also the track which Wisconsin’s ATVMX Pro Cody Janssen calls “home”. Less than four hours from Cody’s hometown of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, Sunset Ridge is always a race circled on his ATVMX calendar. The 25-year-old National and World Champion athlete always looks to put the #25 up front at Sunset Ridge and this year would be no different! There would be one noticeable change to the #25 however. Cody’s ATV would be grey to raise awareness for Brain Cancer, showing support for his future father-in-law and others affected by this disease.

“We ended the weekend on a high note with a 7th in Pro Am and I feel okay about that.” Janssen said after racing concluded on Sunday. “What I feel really good about is my last lap of the race [in Pro Am Moto 2] was my fastest of the race and, I was told, it was one of the fastest on the racetrack. These rough tracks are tough for me, and maybe they always will be because of my injury history with my back, but I’ll never stop fighting and that’s what we did this weekend. In every moto we were moving forward, not backwards, and we’ll get better from here…We always seem to do well at Millville, so I’m looking forward to heading over there next. Another close race for us! In the meantime, I’m going to get my body rejuvenated and we’re going to come out swinging!”

Janssen rode the #25 to a 7th in Pro Am and 14-13 finishes in the AMA ATV Pro Class against the best riders in the world.
