Westley Wolfe Race Report – FLY Racing
ATV Supercross and Texas ATV National

MYERSVILLE, Md. (April 6, 2017) – The 2017 Wiseco ATV Motocross National Championship kicked off last month in Daytona Beach, Florida with the third annual FLY Racing ATV Supercross on March 14. The second round of the 11-round circuit took place this past Saturday, April 1, with the Texas National at Underground MX Park in Kemp, Texas.

After qualifying seventh at the ATVSX, Wolfe’s confidence was at all time high as the gate dropped for his heat race and pro debut. With a quick jump, Wolfe was second out of the holeshot and held onto fourth behind some of the sport’s veterans.

With a short start line, Wolfe was pushed off the track in the main event. With 18 laps to recover, the rookie pushed his way through the pack to finish an impressive eighth in his AMA Pro debut. With a short and technical track and constant pressure, Wolfe proved that he will be a top contender this season.

“My goal was to finish in the top-ten in my first pro race, so to get eighth is awesome,” said Wolfe. “As we continue with the traditional motocross format, I plan on using my cross-training with GNCC to my advantage as the season continues.”

This past weekend, April 1, Wolfe headed across country to Kemp, Texas for the Texas ATV National at Underground MX Park. Two laps into the first moto, Wolfe’s decompression ring went out ultimately putting a two-inch hole in the valve cover. Wolfe’s pit crew immediately went to work putting in a brand-new motor between motos.

Time ran out to change the clutches, but Wolfe lined up for Moto 2 in an attempt to salvage points. Wolfe battled a rough and rutted track, along with clutch issues, to finish an impressive tenth place.

With forecasted storms on Sunday, ATVMX and track officials decided to run the first moto of Pro-Am on Saturday afternoon. Wolfe once again headed to the start line, where he got off to a favorable start. Wolfe made quick work of the pack, and moved into second by the fifth lap. Wolfe continued to ride his own race, earning second in his first Pro-Am race of the season.

Wolfe currently sits eleventh in the AMA Pro points chase, and second in Pro-Am. The 2017 ATVMX series continues with the Spring National in Tallassee, Alabama on April 15.
