ATV Motocross National Championship Kicks Off at Second Annual FLY Racing ATV Supercross
Reigning Champ Chad Wienen Looks to Gain Fifth Straight Title
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 8, 2016) – The 2016 ATV Motocross National Championship (ATVMX) presented by CST Tires, an AMA National Championship, is set to take center stage today at the Second Annual FLY Racing ATV Supercross (ATVSX). This one-of-a-kind event held at the iconic Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida kicks off the 12-round ATVMX Series.
Leading the way in 2016 is Wienen Motorsports/Yamaha/Maxxis/SSi Decals/Walsh Racecraft/FLY Racing’s Chad Wienen. Last season, Wienen clinched his fourth consecutive AMA Pro ATV championship. As he heads into the opening round, Wienen will be focused on adding an ATVSX win to his records in addition to gaining valuable points toward the 2016 National Championship.
However there will be many racers challenging Wienen as he begins his quest for the National Championship. Last year’s runner up, Maxxis/Elka/Liquid Wrench’s Joel Hetrick, will also have his sights set for the center spot on the podium. Hetrick will remain on a Honda and come into this round with off-season training in Louisiana on his side.
Of course, Maxxis/FLY Racing/Baldwin Motorsports’ John Natalie will be a contender for the win. Natalie took home the win at the inaugural ATVSX last year, and he will look to use his veteran experience again this year to claim gold once again.
Maxxis/Root River Racing/JB Racing’s Thomas Brown will also contest for the overall victory. Florida native Jeffrey Rastrelli is accustomed to the hot and humid temperatures that will be present at the World Center of Racing, and will put his familiarity to use.
The lineup of contenders that are set to do battle for the title this season is impressive, and it will be a crowd pleasure for sure. There is no better way to watch the showdown at the hallowed grounds of Daytona International Speedway other than LIVE streaming provided via Racer TV. All the action can be seen live on RacerTV.com with ATVSX Live beginning at 11:30 a.m. EST.
