It’s hard to believe that we have reached this point. The season is over and championships have been decided. Some were heartbroken while others were filled with joy. The ups and downs of it all came to a screeching halt, and now we are left with the memories of another amazing season. The good news is that there is still a couple of big ATV events that are a must to attend, which also gives a little something to look forward to.

And just like that, the season is over! We can't wait to see what 2016 holds!

One of those big events is the upcoming inaugural ATV race at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resorts Edge of Summer Motocross on August 28th in Mt. Pleasant, MI. It features a $12,000.00 purse plus another $1000.00 casino cash for the overall pro winner. The event will also feature Pro Am and amateur classes. The event is not AMA sanctioned so A riders are eligible to race the Pro class. This should make it interesting to as we may see some surprises in the end.

If you want more information you can go to RedBudMX.com but below are some things I copied from there to give you an idea of what was going on:

On a sad note, the bad news that we as a racing family woke up to Thursday morning is heartbreaking. The news of the passing of Dalton Millican a former AMA ATV rising star has shaken the ATV Racin’ Nation to its core and we as a racing family must remain strong, pray for and offer his family any condolences we can. As many of the social media posts reflect upon Dalton and his short time with us anyone can tell he made a huge impact on us. A charming smile and personality with the speed of lightening, Dalton lived life to its fullest on and off the track, on an ATV, and in a Monster Truck as well was a good friend to many, a great sportsman and competitor, a positive spirit and soul and a loving son. Godspeed Dalton and peace be with your family.

That’s it from me for now. Till next time God Bless Your Heart and All Your Vital Organs.

We lost one of our fellow friends and racers this week. RIP Dalton Millican

Keeping up with Ken Hill

Well we survived another year at Loretta Lynn’s! This year was especially brutal as the heat and humidity destroyed most of us at the beginning, however the humidity lifted enough to make the ATV Dirt Days weekend somewhat enjoyable from a weather standpoint! All in all a great weekend came together to put the finishing touches on the 2015 season, especially for Chad Wienen and the Yamaha crew! I would imagine some down time for the 4-time champ and then my advice to him would be to figure out a way to slow Hetrick down in 2016!

Slow Hetrick down? Well, I m not sure they can go any faster or push any harder so someone better figure out a way to stop the momentum Kid Dynamite has amassed this season or 2016 is going to be no fun at all unless you are a Joel Hetrick fan. Hetrick has arrived in a big way after making this season one of the closer points battles we have had in a few seasons. That makes for great racing for the fans and I fully expect a repeat in 2016 where it may come down once again to experience and who can make the least mistakes in what could be one of the most intense on track duels we have ever had!

Running just behind the top two was once again Thomas Brown who seemed to be frustrated with his results. Chatting with Brown showed the same fire and passion to do better that we have come to expect from him but now that he carries the burden of being his own team owner and dealing with every detail that has to wear on him mentally. Brown seemed to think more training is what he needs; more speed, more endurance and that surely could work to his advantage if the war remains heated between Wienen and Hetrick. He may be looking at those in front of him however he better keep an eye on his six!

Congrats to Nick Gennusa on his 2015 Pro Am Championship!

Jeffrey Rastrelli, Ronnie Higgerson and a few others look more than ready to make things interesting in 2016, which sets the stage for even closer racing that will only add to the excitement on the track. We have a long off-season to bench race but I for one am more than amped for the first gate drop in the new season! It will be very satisfying to see several riders reach a podium finish as their careers take the next step. Who will be the break out rider in 2016 is a topic we can explore as will tackle the dreaded dead zone this winter!

The rest of the racing at the final round was great as usual with champion after champion crowned. Actually the last two rounds blur heavily for me with the Loretta Lynn Amateur race falling in between the final two rounds making it a whirlwind trip with so much info flying around! It becomes a 3-week racing filled, gas burning, highway driving, and roost filled mega event! Looking back each season I enjoy it all but you would be hard pressed to get me to admit that at any point in between! What a crazy life we all lead!

Congrats to Chad on his fourth consecutive ATVMX Championship!

That is about all from me this week. I am currently sitting on the deck at my father in laws house in southern West Virginia enjoying a nice 56-degree sunrise while visiting him after open-heart surgery. Mid week of the Loretta Lynn’s bike event, I got the call he had suffered a heart attack which made it tough to deal with balancing home and work but it all worked out, I just hope they used high quality aftermarket parts and not the cheap stuff! Then on the way down here I learned of the passing of Dalton Millican. Life is never a sure thing people so enjoy it and get the most out of it! With such a large racing family it can be tough hearing the bad news of a loss and at times it seems like it is every other day. Our prayers are with the Millican family as they deal with the passing of such a young man.

God bless
