The Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship is beginning its wind down from one aspect with three rounds left to go. However it at the same time is really starting to heat up. To say things are about to get interesting may be an understatement. The year has already been plagued with bad weather and low turnouts due to forecasts but one has to hope and think that it may all turn around in the coming month.

Wienen (1), Hetrick (88) and Rastrelli (728) are sure to put on another great show for the ATVMX fans in Unadilla this Saturday!

It's hard to believe that in just over four weeks it will all be over and we will be looking forward to 2016. It feels like we really haven't even gotten started yet. Where does the time go? The whole slow as molasses in the offseason to the fast as lightning race season kind of leaves one's head spinning. The enlightening thing may be the fact that there is still plenty of room for changes and looking back at recent rounds the stage may just beginning to be set for what may turn out to be a little more exciting than thought possible at this point.

One of the biggest surprises for me this year has been witnessing the success of our foreign invaders. We have long seen names from Canada, England and France but most impressive so far of all the invaders has to be the South Americans. Most distinctly the Argentinians. The Argentinians have quietly performed their ways to the front of the pack and now points races even.

Vitu Cazenave will get credit for opening our eyes to this situation we have developing. He has ridden impressively over the last couple seasons but has really found his flow in 2015. Last year at Dirt Days he made his AMA Pro ATV debut opening the eyes of many that there may be more they’re than meets the eye. Then in 2015 he has backed it up. He has had strong rides in both Pro and Pro Am motos and continues to show strength and improvements at a rate that has made him a true contender. A contender for wins in the Pro Am and right now a possible podium contender in the Pro ranks. Though it may be a little tougher in the pro class, the signs so far have painted a positive picture and there may be a bit of a surprise by the time the final checkers fly for 2015.

Another big surprise from the Argentinian front has been Niko Cavi. Niko joined Thomas Brown's efforts this season and it has been the perfect fit for him. Surprisingly though Cavi is a real expert when it comes to muddy races. This has boosted his confidence to the point that he is true threat to win every time he lines up in the Pro Am and solid top tens in the pro class.

Right now Cavi sits only 9 points behind Nick Gennusa for the Pro Am Point lead. Cazenave is only another 7 points behind him in third. So depending on how the next rounds go we may see for the first time in our history of American ATVMX two international riders battling for the Pro Am title. I'm not sure honestly it has ever happened in any other class so this may be bigger than we know if it comes to pass. The possibility of his happening is monumental itself but if the hype becomes reality then we may be seeing the possibility of this becoming a world title championship. So I say come one come all and challenge the best riders in the world and you too can become one of the best. Vitu and Niko are doing that very thing right now and a championship for either would be priceless.

As we head to the "Home of Horsepower", there are a number of unanswered questions still looming. Some may be answered then while other questions may surface and give us more uncertainty to what the end will finally hold. I am truly excited to see what the last three rounds hold.

That's it for me for now. Let's check in with Gloop and Ken. Till next time, God Bless Your Heart and All Your Vital Organs.

Catching up with Ken Hill:

Unadilla! They call it the home of horsepower and for good reason, the long pulls on this track take some serious power and lets not forget skill! The jump aptly named Sky shot is a huge and massive jump that is a crowd favorite although it draws both scorn and enthusiasm depending on what rider you speak with! Combine the recent changes to the track in the past few seasons and it is indeed a favorite among the majority who attend this event.

Attendance is usually good here as well as the draw from the northeast and Canada adds new names to the gate and that is a great thing. The region itself is worth exploring, as the river valley is one of the most picturesque of the season and very relaxing. You can see the entire valley from the far end of the parking area and makes for a wonderful place to just unwind after a day full of racing!

Now if we look at this weekends pro race, the two names that will surely be on everyone's lips are that of defending champion Chad Weinen and Joel Hetrick. This pair has been keeping things very interesting for the fans and I expect this round to be more of that hard-core battling between them. Weinen is closing in on another championship and time is running out for Hetrick but that just makes me wonder what next season will bring. In a few days, questions will be answered and we will know who rolls out of Dilla a winner and who has more work to do!

Ronnie Higgerson has ran into some bad luck the past couple rounds, and is looking to earn two moto finishes this coming weekend.

For me, watching the battle just behind the two heavy hitters this year shows another story of struggle and just how bad the riders want to excel. Jeffrey Rastrelli showed us at Spring Creek that he indeed wants to get on that podium and has not let his injury keep him from that goal. Others have met with difficulty and keep pushing, kind of the story of ATV MX we all face but quitting is not an option! I never even knew Thomas Brown went down at Spring Creek until after the race and I am glad he wasn't injured and expect him to be a huge force at Unadilla. He has a solid season going with a very big points gap over 4th place and I expect to see him racing for a podium spot this weekend.

One rider I want to see at Unadilla is Logan Tremellen who is recovering after a crash at High Point. His story has been played out to his family, friends and fans after the crash revealed a major and life threatening condition that in the end may have saved his life. His father reports he will be at Unadilla to cheer everyone on so look for him and give him a shout!  Another rider I have been keeping an eye on is Mathew Keese. Keese went down hard at Spring Creek and suffered injuries that may have put him in a wheelchair for life if it had not been for the quick actions of the EMS staff and the talent on hand at the hospital. We all are praying for him and his family and pray he makes a full recovery. Be sure to go give him a follow on Facebook and see if you can help him in any way possible. There is a benefit ride planned for him in Ohio and the details are posted on his page.

That is about all from me this week as I get busy packing and gearing up for a busy weekend. The weather report looks good so I expect some great racing and intense competition throughout every class! Be safe in your travels and may God bless you!
