It's been kind of a crazy last couple of weeks as things settle down for just a moment before they re-intensify with the 2014 Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship finale at Loretta Lynn's Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN. Both myself and series photographer Ken Hill have spent the time since Red Bud at Loretta's getting ready for the "worlds greatest ATV vacation" that we all know and love as Dirt Days. We both had to be here for the 33rd Rocky Mountain ATV / MC Amateur National Motocross National Championship at Loretta Lynn's presented by AMSOIL and I’d like to say that the weather has been perfect.

Kenny has been all smiles as with only two wheels to shoot he says his job is half as hard. Something tells me he is just joking but it makes sense though, I mean the ATV motocross is twice as hard on me because the racing is often times twice as good. Maybe it is the fact that there are four wheels that make it harder? But that can't be it because then there are only half as many quads on a track at the same time so there goes that theory. I guess the racing truly is twice as good then. Glad to have figured that out.

This Site Lap is a little late like we noted because of the big week we had last week, but I feel there are a few things folks needed to know so I decided to get it out late instead of skipping last week completely.

First thing is the weather has been exceptional. Low humidity and temperatures in the mid 80s to low 90s has not felt like a traditional Loretta's. We as an ATV Racin' Nation have experienced this before for Dirt Days but it is rare. Hopefully it stays dry and comfortable this week as many folks are starting to file into the ranch to acclimate they for the conditions that will hopefully be just like last week. And the flooding pictures posted a couple of weeks ago were a little of an exaggeration because the water that did fall before the vent was gone as quick as it came.

Next thing is the annual 88 Live To Ride Spaghetti Dinner and Auction that will take place on Friday night at the AMSOIL Arena. ITP Tires' Big Daddy Stan Digby and crew will start serving spaghetti at 6:30pm. There is no cost for the dinner as it is free for all but a free will offering will be taken if you choose to do so. If you honestly can't or don't want to donate that is fine but still come break bread with your fellow ATV Racin' Nation family.

Proceeds from the spaghetti dinner along with the auction proceeds will go to 88 Live To Ride which supports the Mobile Medical Unit with supplies, RN, transporting the unit and everything it takes to offer this great free service. The foundation also helps other things in ATV riding and racing with education and often times helps fallen riders with supplies, bills and expenses. It is an awesome and great organization and Debi Bartosek and all the staff appreciates any and all donations. Debi's son Matt was tragically killed in a racing incident and 88 Live To Ride was started in his honor.
