ATVmotocross.com: Tyler, how has your off season been going? Getting in some good training?
Tyler Hamrick: Hey Ken, the off-season has been going good. I have been working and riding indoor tracks weekly. I am heading down south for the first time to Louisiana with the team and I am more then ready to get some good training in.
This season is looming, the pressure is starting to build. How are you planning on taking on the new season?
Definitely plan on training hard down at Paffords, I feel like I am behind schedule as of now so that has really got me eager to get back to where I was at the end of last season and improve. Holeshots this year will be a huge factor and that is something I really need to improve on. Other then that I am just going to try and stay healthy and consistent each moto.
The new moto time in the Pro class should help close the field up, any thoughts on that?
I think with the shorter motos racing will be a lot tighter than last year and should bring a lot of good battles. Starts will be huge like I said and I think it will be a little more aggressive then years past knowing the race is not as long.
They say the best way to gauge who will be the one to watch is to ask your competitors. With that said, who are your picks for being the players this year?
I think this year in the Pro class Thomas, Joel, and Jeffery are going to be the ones to watch out for. In Pro Am there is a ton of guys that will be fighting for the podium this season, the big players in my eyes would be Dettling, Musick, Higgerson, Gennusa and I am interested to see Cam Covil's debut as well.
Did you make any big changes to your program for 2014? Vechery Racing stepped up and you are part of their team correct?
Yes a lot of big changes for the program this year for me. Vechery Racing brought me in and if it weren't for them I would not be racing the full series with this type of opportunity. Different bike set ups then what I've gotten used to over the years but with the people we have behind us it should be a very easy transition to get comfortable on the NSD rippers.
Have you set out any goals for the season?
Goals for this year I really want that Pro Am Championship, a Top 8 overall in the Pro Class, and way better holeshots. Other then that I just want to improve from last year and stay consistent in each moto.
Tyler, thank you for bringing us to speed and we wish you the best of luck this year!
