ATVmotocross.com: Brett, you walked rolled into the Pro Am class this year and left with the #1 plate. That had to be a huge confidence builder heading into the off-season. Now that we are ready to see you defend that plate, what is your thoughts on the upcoming season?
Brett Musick: Yea getting that number one plate was definitely the best feeling ever. I had a good season but really wasn't even close to what it could have been though. Last year I didn't train as much as I should have but it has definitely changed. I've been putting in a lot of time at the gym this winter and trying to ride at least 3 times a week. I'll definitely he ready to go get another number 1 plate in Pro Am next year.
The competition was stiff last year and it really looks like it might even be tougher this season. Have you had some quality seat time in the off-season to get prepared?
The class is pretty stacked this year for sure. We have a few new guys that will be contenders to win it also along with the others from last year. But yea I've had a great off-season so far. I Have rode more than I ever have and I will definitely be ready.
Heading to the first gate drop, which riders do you think will be the ones to watch?
I think there are probably around 10 riders that could win any Moto. All the riders that was up front last year will be back and with a few new guys in the class will make for some good racing.
Has your program and sponsors changed or are you bringing the same winning set up back for 2014?
I pretty much still have the same program as last year. Picked up a few sponsors like Shoei and 100% have helped out a lot this year. But other than that I'm about the same.
You had a chance to throw down a few days with some other riders like Brad Riley, Tyler Hamrick and Tim Dettling. That has to be a huge help when you gauge yourself against those racers in the off-season.
I rode with Hamrick and Dettling a little over a month ago probably at Hog Heaven MX. It was a good weekend. It was finally kind of warm down there so we definitely pushed each other so that always helps and Brad rode with me I think 3 weeks ago and we had some good moto's out at hog heaven also. I think we all have a great shot at winning a lot of moto's this year.
I know there are some folks you would like to thank for helping you get to where you are and where you are going, make sure you throw a big shout out as they deserve it!
I would first off like to thank Scott Ellis for helping me get to where I am. He has definitely helped out more than I could ever ask. Would also like to thank my mom, dad, nanny, pawpaw, sister and my aunt Sharon. I also couldn't do it without Walsh Racecraft, FTR Power Sports, Baldwin Motorsports, PEP, Dasa, Quadtech, Shoei, 100%, Rath, Maxxis, Flexx, Logan motorcycle sales, Bunches atv tire sales, Precision, Media Allstars, Hinson. I can't thank them enough!
