Wienen Attempts to Secure 2013 National Championship in Pro Class

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (July 25, 2013) – As the 2013 Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship Series, sanctioned by AMA, winds down, the circuit heads to the legendary RedBud MX in Buchanan, Mich. this weekend, July 27 and 28, for Round 9 of the 10-race series. This Saturday, the nation’s top pros will go to battle for the overall win in the Pro Class, but points leader Chad Wienen has his sights set on capturing a second consecutive championship at the penultimate round of racing.

Illinois native Chad Wienen will once again perform in front of his hometown family and friends on the familiar Midwest terrain aboard his Wienen Motorsports SSi Walsh Yamaha presented by Maxxis Tires & Team Vollmer machine. Wienen won the 2012 National Championship after returning to action only nine months after undergoing back surgery in June of 2011. Since then, Wienen has bounced back to claim seven of the eight overall wins in 2013, where he holds a commanding lead over the rest of the field heading into Round 9.

Wisconsin native Nick DeNoble also returns to his home region with hopes of capturing his first podium finish in 2013. DeNoble has finished consistently inside the top 10 all season long but the Walsh Race Craft rider has yet to land a podium finish. After placing just outside the top five at Round 8, DeNoble will look to secure his first podium finish at RedBud.

BCS Can-Am’s Josh Creamer set his sights on the podium at Unadilla where he ultimately captured second overall for the weekend. After taking the moto 2 win at Round 8, Creamer will head to RedBud with considerable momentum where he looks to secure his first overall win of the season.

Veteran John Natalie proved once again that he is an overall contender after battling through the field to earn a third place overall at Round 8. With only two rounds left in the championship, the MotoSport.com Motoworks DWT-backed rider is now hungrier than ever to finish in the center of the podium.

For only the second time in 2013, Wienen Motorsports SSi Walsh Yamaha presented by Maxxis Tires & Team Vollmer rider Thomas Brown finished off the overall podium last round with fourth place.  Brown has earned a consistent string of podium finishes this season, where he holds second place in the championship standings heading into this weekend’s penultimate round.

Janssen completed his final race in the A class at Unadilla where he will compete in the pro class for the remainder of the 2013 season.

The pro riders race on Saturday as part of a full schedule of amateur racing, including classes for Youth, Women and Veteran riders. Amateurs will practice on Friday and race on Saturday and Sunday, while Pros race on Saturday. Tickets on Saturday are $20 for spectators ($10 for ages 6-11), and admission includes full pro-pit access and an autograph session.
