Whoa! Did I just look at the calendar right? I count only four weeks now until the start of the 2013 season and the preseason crunchtime is about to kick into full swing. Aonia Pass Motocross is prepping for the return of the season opener as we speak and it's full steam ahead into the Mtn. Dew AMA ATV Motocross Nationals.
I was browsing around ATVMotocross.com and noticed that the rules, event schedules, weekend schedules and race orders are now up. Don't forget to check all the tabs across the top of the page and see what pertains to you. The Fan Zone is a great place for folks to visit and get all the details of the weekend from a fan's standpoint. The Racer tab will help racers answer more specific questions and is also where one can reserve numbers, find out more about transponders and contingency information.
As far as what is going on in the racing community, things are heating up even more. Some have gone to Florida to stay until the start of the season and many have visited a few days at a time, trying to get what little bit of seat time they can.
Jeffery Rastrelli is busy prepping for the new year and his sophomore season. He said that he knows now what levels he has to step up to be competitive. He said he has been on the bike a lot this pre-season but has yet to ride his new Can-Am. He said "I feel really fast and have been training really hard and should be getting on my Can-Am soon. Jody from JB Racing is coming down the week before the first GNCC National to test and to get me on the new bike. I am really looking forward to this year, I feel like I got all the rookie jitters out of the way and also feeling like I'm getting rid of all my arm pump problems so we should be strong this year." Good luck Jeffery, this will be an exciting season for sure.
The Beverly Hillbilly himself, Chance Beverly, has been busy too, it appears. Last season he was a top contender in the Schoolboy classes and now it looks like he is moving up. Chance told me "Right now we are building my bikes for next year. I will be riding a Honda 450r in Production B and probably 450 B, I'm not sure on the second class yet but definitely one of the B classes. I've been training for this upcoming season pretty hard so I can come out swinging. As far as my sponsors go this upcoming year I will be riding for Media Allstars so I can't thank them enough! Hopefully I can get on the podium for them, I've been riding a 450 a lot training for this year so hopefully it will go good for me and my team! I feel that we are about to see this young man shine and show us a side of him on the track we have yet to see.
The women of AMA ATV Motocross have been busy too. Even though the Women Class is super exciting to watch, there are a few we will be keeping a close on this year. One of those is Chloe Buerster who is fresh back from Florida herself. Chloe who is not only a great ATV racer but also a pretty good golfer it seems. She said she spent a week riding and testing and a week golfing. She said she is busy training now at home and homeschooling is taking up a majority of her time. She said she is still on track and should be racing Women Class and a B class.
Katie Mette, who is also a top contender in the Women class, and a contender against the guys in the B class is also slated to return in 2013. She said "I've been down in Florida this week doing some riding! I can't stay for long because I can't miss much school but we have been trying to get in as much riding as possible. Mainly just working hard trying to stay in shape and get bikes ready for the first round!" She also told me that she things should be a little easier to focus on racing in 2013 "My mechanic and longtime family friend Cody Willenborg is coming back to travel with us and help us out at every round this year. That's pretty big for me because he's a huge help and with his help on the bikes I can stay much more focused on just riding. I'm really excited about that." That is exciting and I can't wait to see what 2013 is going to be shaping up like in only month.
I spoke with William "Bill" Marsh who was one to the fastest vet riders on the track last season. Bill told me he had surgery on his neck three days after Christmas and is already back to work. He said he didn't think he would be racing any time soon but would still be at the track helping Cody Suggs out in 2013. He said that Cody would be runnig AMA Pro ATV this year and is one of the nearly dozen new riders in the pro class this year.
Joel Jannsen sent us an update on Cody and a few other things he was able to pick up on while down in the great Sunshine State: Cody Janssen and Tyler Hamrick, along with 10 or 12 other pro and pro-am riders, are all at Waldo Motorsports Park in Florida training. Great group of guys and holy smokes are they flying.
Today there was a Josh Creamer and a Nick Denoble sighting at Waldo Motorsports Park.
Also, FS I and Janssen motorsports have combined to field a killer team between Troy Hill and Cody Janssen along with Elka Maxxis DP and Thor. Look for these boys to be in the front of their respective classes this season.
Cody is light years ahead of his pace of last season I can't wait for him to be interviewed by you on the podium my friend!
I also got a note from Tyler "Ty Ty" Peters who appears to be busy and ready for the new season:
Hey Rodney,
I have been busy the past few weeks as have many! I have had school and been training as hard as I can for this upcoming season. I will be running 90 open Sr. and Supermini class and I will work as hard as I can to get the top spot in both those classes. I also will be running the new Schoolboy Jr. Open-Mod class and I am looking forward to being in there as well! I am glad to say I am on a team this year and an awesome one if I have to say so! I will be under the JB Racing tent along with Brogan and Maddie Guyer, Blake Sarver, Grayson Eller, Duck Lloyd, and Jeffrey Rastrelli! We are having help from Cheerwine as we are with many other awesome sponsors. We are looking to do great things this year and do the best we can! We've all been working hard and hoping it pays off! I honestly can't wait to get back on the bike! I feel really good this year and I have confidence, which is important! I feel like this year is going to be a big year for my team and I and we're all looking forward to getting back at it! All of this is coming together because of my sponsors: JB Racing, Cheerwine, FMF, ITP, Renthal, ODI, Baldwin Motorsports, PEP Shocks, RPM Axels, Powermadd, Spy Optics, Evs, Twin Air, VP Racing, Fly Racing, GoPro, Hinson Clutch Components, Rath, RPM Dominator, LP Liquid, Maier, Presicion, Wiseco, DWT, DP Brakes, 88 Live to Ride, Outerwears, SSI Decals, Sandridge, Rastrelli Land Grading, Makson Construction, Guyer the Mover, Lloyd Concrete, and Peters Professional Landscaping!
