Monster Energy Kawasaki's Wienen Makes Consecutive Run to the Podium Irvine, Calif. - Monster Energy Kawasaki's Chad Wienen followed up his second-place finish last round with another runner-up finish in Danville, Va. during the fourth round of the AMA ATV Motocross Championship. The finish puts him within six points of his teammate Josh Creamer for fourth overall in the points standings. Creamer worked his way through a hard first moto to finish 10th overall. |
Starting Off the Day on Top Wienen was dialed in and ready for the race in Virginia, starting the day with the top qualifier award. It is Wienen's second time winning the top honors in just four races. "That really helped me because I got the first gate pick," said Wienen. "It also gave me a confidence boost before the race. It was a good way to start out the day." |
Off and Running After earning the top-qualifier award and first gate pick, Wienen showed he was ready to stand on the podium with a win in the first moto. He followed up his win with a third-place finish in the second moto to finish second overall. "It was a good day," said Wienen. "I was happy overall since I had to come from the back in the second moto. I had an issue in the second moto and it could have been a bad race, but I kept it together for a good finish. I really had a good time and I'm ready to go back home for the next race." |
Keep Moving Forward Creamer was able to make the best out of his day, finishing 10th overall after a 14th place finish in the first moto. "I am actually happy that I came away as well as I did in the first moto," said Creamer. "I had something going on with the quad, but I kept pushing as hard as I was able to. I'm not too disappointed. I know we have the potential to be on the box and we will continue to make improvements. Hopefully both Chad and I can be up on the podium at the next race." |
Next Race at Home The next race at Sunset Ridge MX in Walnut, Ill. is Wienen's home race and he is going to be ready to put on a show for the home crowd. "I am looking forward to the next race at one of my home tracks," said Wienen. "I will hopefully do well with a lot of familiar faces watching." |
Gibson Keeps Winning Streak Alive It was another race and another win for Cody Gibson, this time back in the Pro Am Production class where he currently holds the points lead on his Kawasaki KFXTM450R. It was his second win in three races in the Pro Am Production class, extending his points lead to 30. |
Four Races In, Both Riders in Top-Four Overall With just four races in, both Creamer and Wienen have shown that they are not giving up the title fight any time soon. Creamer's in third overall and holds a six point advantage over Wienen who sits fourth. "It's a long series and anything can happen," said Creamer. "You just have to keep pushing and know you never give up. It's been a true fight for each moto with several of the top guys trading moto wins." |
