As an AMA National Championship Series, it is important that the AMA recognize the long and storied history of ATV racing and the accomplishments of its athletes.

Each year, the AMA accepts applications for consideration for induction into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame.  For the past several years, MX Sports Pro Racing has nominated Gary Denton, one of our sport’s most celebrated and accomplished athletes, for this great honor.  This year, Gary was elevated from Applicant to HoF Candidate, making him eligible for selection as a Nominee for induction – an honor in itself, but not the same as actually being inducted.  Unfortunately, the HoF Nominating Committee failed to induct Gary, or any ATV racer for that matter ever.

The ATV racing community has supported the AMA through its membership requirements since the series’ inception in the early 1980’s.  Yet not one ATV racer or supporter has ever been inducted into the AMA HoF – not in motocross, off-road, flat track or TT. This is unacceptable.

The deadline for the 2015 nomination cycle is December 31, 2014.  We urge our ATV racing community to support our efforts to get Gary inducted into the AMA HoF.  The complete application process can be found here:

Follow the process and submit an application for your favorite ATV racer before the deadline.  Since there is no separate ATV category in the nomination process, all ATV activity is included in the “Specialty Competition” category.  Gary will remain in candidate status and be eligible for selection as a nominee for 4 additional years.  So if you have additional information to add to his pending application, please submit it.  To view the most recent application submitted for the nomination of Gary Denton, click HERE.

Let this be the last year that the accomplishments of our ATV racing heroes go unrecognized and unappreciated.
