The opening round of the Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship has come to a close and sophomore AMA ATV Pro rider Tyler Hamrick was able to pick up right where he left off from last year finishing 11th Overall in the Pro Class and battling Casey Martin in both motos. On Sunday Hamrick suffered from two bad gate picks but was able to work his way up through the Pro-Am class to finish 5th overall and crossed the line right on the rear grab bar of the top 2 finishers in the second moto.

“Saturday’s Pro motos were really rough with all the mulch that was added to the track. This is my first year running under the ELKA banner and I am really happy with the switch. Our ELKA shocks with SIX 5 DESIGN suspension components worked great in the rough stuff.” regarded Hamrick after the race. Unfortunately a practice crash a week before the first round left AMA ATV Pro Tim Dettling in a cast on his left leg for a few weeks. Tim looks to return to action when the series heads to High Point Raceway in May.

With a 5th overall in 450A and 6th overall in Open A, amateur racer Scottie Vechery is pleased to be leaving Georgia in one piece after a big crash in 2012 left Scottie sidelined for nearly two years. “I’m happy with my results considering this is my first national being fully healthy in almost 2 years. In the second moto of Open A I was able to pull a massive holeshot. I am really happy we are using Maxxis tires this year and all the support they are giving the entire team.” said Vechery.

Vechery Racing/Never Sleep Designs Satellite support riders also had a great showing at the first round with Dan Hoisington taking 2nd overall in College 16-24 and 3rd overall in 450A, Dave Schrock securing a  12th place overall in 40+ after losing a stator and Alex Pafford finishing 6th overall in Super Mini and 8th overall Schoolboy Jr Open.
