WM Team goes 1-2 for the Weekend and the Championship

This past weekend Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. hosted the final round of racing for the 2013 Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship, sanctioned by AMA. And to no surprise the Wienen Motorsports team took to the podium at the end of the weekend as Thomas Brown grabbed his first career overall win and Chad Wienen went 2-2 for second overall. With Brown’s overall, the team also wrapped up second overall in the championship points standings along with Wienen’s 2013 National Championship.

Both Brown and Wienen were off to a great start in moto 1, when both riders came out of the first turn towards the front of the field. Before the end of the first lap, Brown’s machine took a nosedive into the soft track and miraculously Brown and his machine did a flip and landed rubber side down. Brown was able to get his machine started back up and only lost two positions. Meanwhile, Wienen sat in the second place position and was unable to make any advances into the first place position. Brown continued on to make his way back up through the field and was able to settle into the third place position by the end of the moto.

Moto 2 was another great start for the Wienen Motorsports team. Brown was able to make a pass for the lead by the end of the second turn and pulled a few second lead by the end of the first lap. Wienen sat in the third place position and was finally able to make a pass for second before the halfway point. Wienen then set his sights on Brown in the first place position and with two laps to go the two riders were less than a bike length apart. The Wienen Motorsports team crossed the checkers with less than half a second between them. Brown took first and Wienen followed in second.

The Wienen Motorsports team will be taking some time off from racing until October 4 & 5, when they will be participating in the Caleb Moore Pro Challenge Memorial Race down in Kemp, TX.
