Wienen Leads Stacked Field into Round 8 of ATVMX at Unadilla
Morgantown, W.Va. (July 11, 2012) Ӊ The 2012 ATV Motocross National Championship Series makes its way to the Unadilla Valley Sports Center in New Berlin, New York for Round 8 of the 10-round series. This track, more commonly known as Unadilla, has been the host of 40 plus years of exciting racingӉ from two and four-wheeled motocross to cross-country racingӉ and this weekend will prove to be no different as the fastest ATV motocross racers from all over the country find common ground in the northeast.
Wienen Motorsports/SSi Decals/Walsh Race Craft/Yamaha’s Chad Wienen continues to hold the red plate as he carries the points lead with a solid 327-point total, and four wins for the season. Wienen has put himself into a favorable position going into this race, but defending champ John Natalie remains a majar threat in the championship chase. Natalie has been picking up momentum as the season continues, charting two overall victories aboard his Motoworks/Can-Am backed ride.
Baldwin Motorsports/PEP/Maxxis rider Josh Upperman continues to have a consistent season as he sits fourth in the overall point standings. Upperman finished third overall last round in his home state of Ohio and looks to continue the streak this weekend in New York.
Motoworks/Can-Am’s Joel Hetrick has had his fare share of set backs this season but the young gun is heading to Unadilla with a spurt of confidence after finishing second in the last round. The young star has shown that he’s got the speed to run with the most experienced pros on the circuit.
The pro riders will run Saturday as part of a full schedule of amateur racing, including classes for Youth, Women and Veteran riders. Amateurs will practice on Friday and race on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets on Saturday are $20 for spectators ($10 for ages 6-11), and admission includes full pro-pit access and an autograph session. To get to the track, take Route 81 North to exit #15 - I-88. I-88 to exit #9 "Sidney". Turn left at the top of the exit ramp onto Route #8 NORTH. Stay on Route #8 directly to the racetrack.
