Westley Wolfe Race Report – Monster Mountain ATVMX National

Tallassee, Ala. (May 7, 2017) – After qualifying eleventh at the Southern ATV National at Monster Mountain MX Park in Tallassee, Alabama, Westley Wolfe headed to the start line in hopes of landing another top-ten finish at Round 3.

After getting a good jump off the line, Wolfe sat in eighth at the conclusion of the first lap where he battled with two of his biggest competitors. As the race wore on Wolfe got pushed back to ninth where he held onto the position until the conclusion of the last lap.

The second moto holeshot didn’t treat Wolfe as well as the first where he got off to an unfavorable start. Wolfe quickly moved into a top ten position and continued to focus on improving his placement. The next lap, Wolfe moved up to ninth and then eighth, where he continued to ride his own race. With a 9-8 moto tally, Wolfe scored ninth overall.

Following a successful day of racing in the AMA Pro class, Wolfe continued racing on Sunday in Pro-Am. The action on the track was intense. As the gate dropped for the first moto on Sunday, Wolfe was dead last through the turn after getting pushed wide by another rider. Wolfe was determined to make his way back to the front of the pack, where when he was in seventh another rider made contact with him. With only three laps to go Wolfe got back around fifth and fourth, and made the pass for third on the last lap.

The second moto was a different story than the first and Wolfe grabbed the holeshot and lead the first four laps. Wolfe held off the pressure from one of his biggest competitors, but fell victim to it halfway through the race. Wolfe continued to keep him in tow as he rode in second, but wouldn’t be able to make the pass back by the time the checkered flag was flying.

Wolfe moved up two positions in the AMA Pro class where he sits ranked ninth in the points championship and second overall in Pro-Am.

An unanticipated race cancellation at Wolfe’s home track of High Point Raceway, it will put him back on the starting line in this weekend, May 13 and 14, in Crawfordsville, Indiana at Ironman Raceway.
