We had a chance to sit down with Thomas Brown and speak with him about his 2013 Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship, sanctioned by AMA season so far and how he is feeling heading into the last round of the season at Loretta Lynn’s. Brown currently sits in second place overall in the championship points heading to Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

ATV Motocross: So far this has been your best season yet, what has helped you the most in getting to this spot?

Thomas Brown: Its definitely been a great year, There has been two things that definitely helped me get to where a I am. I came into the season healthy and my team! The Wienen Motorsports, SSI Decals, Walsh Racecraft, Yamaha backed by Maxxis and Team Vollmer team is by far the best. The YFZ 450r is by far the best bike I have ever rode and the support from all my sponsors allows me to go out and focus on what I need to do.

ATV Motocross: Have you changed up your training regimen this season?

Thomas Brown: No. Actually my training has stayed really similar to the past few years just more focused.

ATV Motocross: At what point in the season do you feel the most pressure to perform well?

Thomas Brown: I’d have to say right now. I’m nervous heading into LL. I want to rap up the second place in the championship and be up on the podium there.

ATV Motocross: What are you focusing on the most heading into the last round of 2013?

Thomas Brown: Trying to stay relaxed. And trying to treat it like any other race this year.

ATV Motocross: What has been your hardest transition this year after joining the Wienen Motorsports team?

Thomas Brown: Chad acting like my BOSS.  JK The transition went really smooth.  Everybody on the team works well with each other.

ATV Motocross: You stay on the road all season long, what are you looking forward to most about heading home after Loretta’s?

Thomas Brown: The Texas heat while out on the lake! It’s going be great to hang with friends, Chill out, and throw down some laps on my DB (dirt bike)

ATV Motocross: Heading into the off-season, do you typically take a few months off or do you continue to train and race all year?

Thomas Brown: I kind of do both. I normally take a few months off but in those months I don’t stop training and riding. I keep up with everything but don’t push as hard every day. Normally do more fun/play riding than motos and keep up with my workouts. This year I’m going to have to really stay up on my game because Oct. 4-6 I have the Caleb Moore Memorial Pro Challenge. The race has the biggest pro purse I’ve ever seen. So I’m looking forward to that race not only in memory of Captain Moore but also having a huge race in Texas.
